Game Features

* Includes two versions of the game
o Retro – The classic 1980s version
o Refuelled – Rare’s 2007 remake of the classic “Jetpac” comes complete with entirely new hi-def graphics, menacing enemies, new smartbombs that produce an electromagnetic pulse, modernized weapon upgrades and updated gameplay for modern gamers
* Completely updated graphical look of the game gives Xbox LIVE Arcade gamers a truly hi-def and in-depth gaming experience

I honestly never played the original, or if I did I don't remember playing it.

This may well be the first Arcade game I buy! As for the original, it was a classic back in the day on the Sinclair Spectrum - I played it for fucking ages and loved it every time.

Wow. I'm probably younger than you folks, and I used to play this game all the time. Good stuff. :D

If this is the game I think it is, I used to have a lot of fun with it. Directional jetpack with weapons upgrades and the like, right?

128 new levels over the original 16 seems pretty sweet.

I had a good time with it back on Donkey Kong 64. I'll easily throw this one 400 points. If this is the game I think it is, I used to have a lot of fun with it. I thought I read that Gyruss was next week. Are we getting a double retro release?

EDIT: It looks like the speculation was based on Konami's (http://www.konami.com/edealinv/servlet/ExecMacro?nurl=control/XboxLive.vm&ctl_nbr=3810) website. They appear to have no removed the March 2007 release date from Gyruss.

Here's an HD trailer of Jetpac Refuled. The original version is the thing shown first. This looks goooood.

I had never heard of Gyruss being released on XBLA. But, I'm more than happy to see another Konami/Digital Eclipse classic release.

I played this when they embedded it in Donkey Kong 64. You had to beat it to beat the game, as I recall.

The Jetpac game in Donkey Kong 64 was pretty crappy, even as 8-bit computer games go.

after watching that video, I feel compelled to buy it. It looks like mindless fun

Well, not really "beat it", just get a good score.

On the subject of Jetpac refueled, wow that price is awesome. If/when I buy a 360, I'm pretty sure this would be a purchase.

I was unsure if I was going to buy it when it was listed at 800 MS Points, but 400 MS Points is definately the sweet spot for this particular title. Just from the videos, I'll purchase this one without even trying the demo. This is going to be great! Also, there's some good video of this from On The Spot a few weeks ago (GDC).

I have 450 points sitting in my account, maybe this will be where 400 of them go. I cannot remember this, not even from Donkey Kong 64, but the trailer looks pretty cool.

Any thoughts how much this will be? I am guessing 800 points but hoping for 400 points.

Man that looks very, very cool. Kinda like a "Geometry Joust", huh? Live Arcade has been kicking fucking ass lately. Paperboy is still killin it for me.

There's a very simple way to fill up your points bar to all 9s in this game. Well the original. I wonder if it's still there?

Get to the missiles level, stand on the top-right platform in the right place, face right and leave a weight on the squishy rubber fire key? ;)

A graphics updated, scrolly levelled, weapon upgrading, multiplayer version of the first game I ever played?? Sold!

Rare are going to coin it for MS on XBLA. They have so many 8-bit titles from the ACG/Ultimate era that they could release with a few updates and the 8-bit nostalgia crowd would snap them up.

Just imagine it - Atic Atac, Sabre Wulf (Did anyone else spot Sabre Man in that trailer?) KnightLore, Underwurlde, Alien8, Pssst!, Cookie, Gunfright, the list goes on.

Also, IIRC, Solar Jetman was Jetpac's second sequel. Sort of. In a way. The first sequel was the insanely difficult Lunar Jetman.

You only need to stand on the platform and they'll hit it and die giving you points each time (I think we're talking about the same level.) IIRC it takes more than a day to accrue a full score.

IIRC, to get away with not firing, you had to be in _exactly_ the right place, to the pixel. With fire held down, any missiles that may have hit you without being in the perfect spot were destroyed. I was just being safe. :)

Played it, it's awesome! Great shooter and with the "retro" version there to remind you of how much better it is, than it was.

I was sold @ 800p, but @400p it's a no-brainer!
