Gamespot has posted a short article (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/09/news_6127191.html) on the upcoming Battlefield 2 demo, describing it as a "World Premiere", which would seem to imply that the demo will be available from other sources as well.

The demo will feature three variations of the Gulf of Oman map from Battlefield 2, which is set in a near-future conflict between three clashing powers: The United States, China, and the fictional Middle Eastern Coalition (MEC). The single-player, 16-player, and 32-player versions of the map included in the demo will pit the US against the MEC in time-limit-based combat. (China is not playable in the demo.)Hard to say if other sites will get a "cease and desist" letter when they snag the demo, which often happens to exclusive downloads on other pages.

Seriously, all I ask is that someone releases the damn thing before a give birth to a middle nut, who will accompany my two other nuts in a prayer to the lord to give birth to the beloved demo

It doesn't mean it will be available from other sources just because they say "World Premiere".
Think about if Holywood premieres a movie at some theater in New York City... that doesn't mean the movie will be available to see at any other theaters... and it would still be considered a "World Premiere".

It's the same way a tv station say's when they show a movie on cable tv for the first time, "The world broadcast premiere". It's still only on that station.

It just means that it's the first time anyone is going to get to play it. Regardless of where they are getting the demo from (which in this case seems to be Gamespot only for a while).

It's available to unregistered users too, so who cares really. And like others said, it will be up on the P2P networks almost instantly for certain.

This email is to inform you that I will not be sending out the Battlefield 2 multiplayer demo to our file partners upon its initial release. As you’re probably aware, GameSpot will be premiering the demo for a 24-hour period once EA releases it. At this time, we do not have a release date, but one is expected soon. When it is released, you’ll be able to download it from the GameSpot GameCenter (no registration is required) and the games official web site located here: www.Battlefield2.comPremiere is just another word for the same thing.

I just got an email from xFire claiming that THEY have exclusive demo release rights for a day.
Right afterwards I get one from Gamespot saying that they have exclusive release rights for the day.
THEN I noticed I have one from Fileplanet announcing that THEY will be releasing it the SAME day as both of the above sites.
WHAT THE !?
Maybe EA is screwing ALL of them over?? I bet EA gives bittorrent EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS... ;)
