From GamesRadar (http://www.gamesradar.com/us/wii/game/news/article.jsp?articleId=20070302111527387011§ionId=1006&releaseId=200703021051555281)comes word that everybody's favorite Star Wars-themed Battlefield rip-off will be coming to the 360. PSW states that Free Radical - the team behind GoldenEye and TimeSplitters - is masterminding the next iteration of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise...
Keep in mind that LucasArts hasn’t yet made an official announcement that SWBIII has switched development teams, so take this with a grain of salt, albeit a mighty plausible grain at that. Also, knowing LucasArts, we expect that the 360 exclusivity won't last and that we should see this game comming to a few other consoles. Timesplitters is quite possibly my all time favorite FPS franchise. While I doubt that Free Radical's sense of humor will come out in a Star Wars game, I'm confident that the gameplay will be top notch.

I'm sure it will be on both systems.
But I loved the game series in general. Battlefield meets Star Wars. Didn't really care for the Jedi in the 2nd one but I liked everything else.

Why don't they just suck it up and call it what it is...Star Wars : Battlefield
GoldenEye team doing the next Battlefront? God.

I loved SW: Battlefront on the xbox. THe only problem was lag. If they manage to do server hosting, it will be AWESOME.

Awesome. Timesplitters 2 was my favorite fps for the consoles. The controls were flawless for a console. The story mode was alright. The challenges part was great. I don't know how Battlefront is. Hopefully, the goldeneye team can bring the star wars franchise out of staleness.

Battlefront on the PC was horrible. Cramped little maps with AI that was so stupid they were comical. I can't say I am terribly upset to see the PC lose this one.

I really enjoyed both games on the Xbox too...but I'm curious what they'll do to make a third one worth while. I guess that would be why they changed developers. Here's hoping it's good.

Battle Front 2 is a damn fun game, I mean even just playin by yourself.
Needed more levels like Hoth though the battlefeild of Hoth itself (and the AT-ATs) needed to be a bit bigger too I though. Snow Speeders...just so fun to fly! the AT-AT's weren't bad either :)

I've read interviews with Free Radical about how their in-house game engine was developed with 360 and PS3 in mind, not Wii. Unless something has changed, I suspect that the Star Wars Battlefield (front?) game will be coming to PS3 and 360.
It's funny, too, cause I actually consider these games much more fun than Battlefield.

Why are the xbots all happy at all these shitty games coming to their system?

The worst thing about Timesplitters was the interface - TS2 required you to exit out to the main menu to change the number of players. I don't understand why they weren't more popular - I think it's the "non-realistic" graphics, as if any game graphics are ACTUALLY realistic.

Battlefront III will be awesome. BF2 and 1 were awesome, I have the PC versions and they kick ass. Designed for next-gen systems, it'll be truly huge battles with awesome graphics. Not sure why you're hating on the 360, Gorilla.

I am hating on Battlefront...and the rampant fanboyism from some of this news. Devil May Cry 4 coming to 360...heh heh suck it sony. And I will hate on any console or game I please...I have enough hate to go around.

Battlefront is no AAA title, but it's a lot of fun online despite the lag. It's a B title with a star wars skin, which makes it more awesome than 80% of the other star wars games.
I can play as Darth Maul, and the dozens of people I slaughter with my lightsaber and force push are real people

Battlefront was insanely fun, and the timesplitters games were awesome. As long as they retain the whole split screen play in this new one, maybe add a level editor (wishful thinking), and just up the scale of the battles this one's a sure buy.

I'm just happy to see that there is a Battlefront 3 in the works frankly.

Same. Battlefront is probably the only console FPS I enjoy coming back to time and time again. Only on the Xbox though. Can't really get into it on the PSP for some reason.

And the positive 360 news train just keeps on rolling. I never really played much of 1 or 2, since quite frankly I had the superior (pc) battlefield series to play. But with the stinker that is 2142 out and no new ones on the horizon I might have to check this out.

The cartoony graphics were nice which is probably what kept the game running like 60 fps butter. It's no surprise Rare games kind of stink since they lost their crew from the n64 days.

Eeeeeeeh, yeah, they made Time splitters, which wasn't that good. I beat the second one no sweat, and it bored me to tears. Let's hope they can make a worthy sequel.

Considering TimeSplitters is multiplayer oriented...

I might have to keep my eyes open for this one :).
I have Battlefront2 for the PC and it is fun. But I did not enjoy Timesplitter 2 on the Xbox. Hopefully there will be a demo we can download to test it out before we throw away $60.

Yeah so they should be able to make a solid FPS for XBL. I hope, because after two solid games from Pandemic, it'd suck to see the series go into the shitter. I want this game to rule though cuz I love the series.

I wish they would just get the Galactic Conquest team back together - their final release was fantastic. It was unfortunate that their final release coincided with the release of BF2 and so much of the player base left with it.

Cause at least games are coming to the system and not fleeing it.

I never understood why the interface in TS2 was so much worse than in the original TS. It was terrible.
Anyway, I'm torn on this. In a way, I'd want to see this game on the PS3 as I loved the first 2 Timesplitters, but my total apathy to anything Star Wars related almost gaurentees that I won't be interested. :(

Seriously, the lack of good, secondary titles was something that dragged the original XBox down. They had the AAA games, but very few smaller titles that were that good.

Agreed. Every game for a system is important, even if it is poopy. It fleshes out the library. Sure, most here on EvAv don't care for Extreme Deer Hunter Bowling Lodge XII, but that title appeals to SOMEONE. If you go to the store and look through the 14 aisles of PS2 games, there is a LOT of what you or I would consider trash, but that trash is another man's treasure.
Every time a game is canceled for a system, it is a blow to the system.

Time splitters is the only 1st person shooter that actually made me physically ill. The "camera" int heir 3d engine forces environments to look larger than they are by lengthening the virtual focal point, creating a subtle kind of fish-eye effect in their games. It's part of the reason games like Halo seem slow by comparison- the sense of scale in Halo is determined by the size of the environments, the sense of scale in Timesplitters is partially determined by the settings of the 1st person camera.
I also hope they get rid of the "crosshair moves and gun plays catch up visually" from the Goldeneye days.

Star Wars + Battlefield + Free Radical = Drool Worthy
Can. Not. Wait.
As for Pandemic, they did a good job bringing the look and feel of Star Wars into a Battlefield like game, but if it wasn't Star Wars, I'm sure most people would be extremely critical of it as a FPS. Free Radical are much better FPS developers IMO.
