Official Press Release:
CeBIT, March 14th 2007: A new breed of gaming PCs with the highest specifications available for gamers and featuring a level of personalisation never before seen is launched tomorrow at CeBIT 2007 by Commodore Gaming. The new range includes four different models from an entry level gaming PC to an extreme specification model which is optimised to the highest level.
Bala Keilman, CEO for Commodore Gaming, commented "The all new Commodore range of PC's will allow gamers of all levels to enjoy the best that PC gaming has to offer. From beginners to professionals, Commodore Gaming ensures that only the very best components are provided to deliver the ultimate PC gaming experience. We also wanted to bring something new to the market, in the spirit of our Commodore heritage, and have worked hard to design a fully personalised product".
Uniquely, each gaming machine can be artistically customized to match personal taste, with Commodore offering specially selected art including street art, photography, PC game artwork (such as that of GRAW 2) and many other licensed images. Using a revolutionary painting process, the exterior of the Commodore Gaming PC becomes an open and inviting canvas just waiting to be experimented with. Fans and artists alike are requested to present their creative works to become the next limited edition C=kin.
More to follow...

This focus on design and personalisation can even be seen in the small details: two multicoloured LED lights inside the fans can be independently controlled to change or enhance the mood with an ambient glow. Meanwhile, a new Ice Cube cooling system provides extreme levels of cooling, reducing the core temperature by up to seven degrees and ensuring optimum efficiency.
These new gaming beasts are titled the Commodore Cg (entry level), Cgs, Cgx, Cxx (extreme level), each running Microsoft Windows Vista 64 bit operating system including the new gaming interface - DirectX 10. To provide full flexibility, each model can be customized from a range of high-end components before undergoing a full burn-in test prior to shipment to meet our quality commitment. Meanwhile, gamers can expect their systems to come equipped with only the best peripherals available from respected gaming brands including Raptor keyboards and Logitech speaker systems.
The new range of optimised Gaming PCs are now available to see for the first time at the CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany, offering people the chance to play the high performance purpose-built machines with the latest PC games, including graphics-heavy blockbusters such as Supreme Commander and Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2.
All Commodore Gaming PCs come with a full two year service and parts warranty.

What, no link?
It's a press release. Links aren't too common in press releases, unfortunately.
However, as I'm feeling somewhat generous, here's your link (http://www.commodoregaming.com/).

Alienware clone?
Perhaps, but it will need something striking to be competitive.

I could build better for less, and that's the bottom line to me.

The monthly electric bill for running that monster will prolly cost as much as the system itself.

The high end boutique builder market has been extremely crowded for some time. Commodore is really going to need something beyond a decades old name that most gamers of the current generation have never even heard of if they hope to compete.

Anyone have a price on that monster?

That all sounded good until I saw the names Intel and Asus. I have not had any luck with either of these brands.

I've given up chasing the mythical pot of gold at the end of the PC performance rainbow. Nice to know though, if only to break the ice at dork parties.

This PC is overkill, big time.

Assuming no monitor/speakers/kb/anything? Based on Alienware, I'd say at *least* $7500, probably closer to $8500.

Heh, overkill now and will be outdated by the end of the year. Don't you love PC gaming? ;)

Heh, overkill now and will be outdated by the end of the year. Don't you love PC gaming? ;)That PC isn't for PC Gamers, its for assclowns and fucktards. If anything, Commodore should have been for mainstream PC Gaming instead of this 8800 SLI & Core 2 Quad bullshit I'm seeing here.

Anyone have a link to pictures from the show they are on display at?
It seems the thing that will set them apart is case design, specifically the idea of customizable art on the outside. Everything else is just stuff you could buy and build yourself or other PC manufacturers are already doing.

The only think I think is overkill about it is the second 8800.
If I was building a machine today it would be pretty close to the above, except I'd cut down on the hard drives. I'm hoping Crysis (my main reason for putting a new machine today) ends up being a little delayed so the next round of CPUs turn up.

Especially overkill for Crysis. By the time you end up using any of that and stress it, it will be outdated.

Ah that takes me back to the good old Commodore 64 text adventure games I played when very young. I can picture it now....

They stick all that shit in there but can't spring 29$ for an extra dvd player?
Sorry but I never had the desire for my computer to look like it was covered in graffitti. Nor have I ever loved a game so much I want my 8500$ computer to be covered in a decal of it.

Hmm, nice. Will have to take a look at what they will show at CeBIT. I just might get one of these beasts for when I will FINALLY, after six or seven years, replace my old computer with a new one. Just to point out how bad it is, my motherboard doesn't even have AGPx8. Yeah, go figure.

Well, I guess we have our answer to what Commodore's re-entry into the hardware market is. Not for me, but hope anyone that does buy one enjoys it.

You'd have to be a serious retard to buy one of these. Sad, because I wanted Commodore's resurgence to succeed but it's already doomed.
The saddest part is that none of us are PC company executives and we can easily predict Commodore's second demise. Who the fuck invests in this shit anyway?!?! Probably the same cretins who put up money for the Phantom console.

I'd only go for 1 if they can stick all that hardware in the husk of a C64.

I suspect the people who grew up playing games on the commodore now have money to buy the next gen...I'm not aware of what Alienware is doing in the ways of customizability, but if Commodore can put together better customer service, I'll be excited.
But I with flatpicker, I would want one in an old school case...how's that for customizability..I personally don't really dig these highend boutique gaming systems....too expensive, and usually just for a name.

Unless it comes with perfect Amiga emulation and preload with every old Amiga game ever made, I'm not interested.

The only thing recent commodore hardware has in common with past commodores is the brand name. Everything else is just crap. This has nothing to do with commodore any more. The design would be completely different; remember the peculiar shape of c64 and amiga? Well that's commodore. Somebody should buy the brand name and keep it forever. Unless a company has a concept of a unique gaming machine, wrapped up in a sexy packaging (and i do not mean paintbrushcrap as seen on the current deformities).

Raw power isn't nearly as useful as having up to date hardware... Most PC gamers are starting to realize this. What is going to happen when something comes along that the 8800 doesn't support? Sure, two 8800's makes that machine fucking powerful, but just one would probably function more than fine until the day that you actually have to update to a piece of hardware with support for newer technology. I don't know of anything specifically on the horizon, but examples of the past would be like Pixel Shader 2.0, or new versions of DirectX. If your hardware doesn't support that, it just doesn't support it, and it doesn't matter how much power you have.
In short, this is a huge waste of money. Buy it if you're stupidly rich and money doesn't matter to you. Otherwise, buying this would be a mistake.

I'd buy one of these if I won the lottery... probably wouldn't otherwise.
