FarCry Instincts takes the PC version's signature locations, Full-Action Response A.I. (F.A.R. concept), and unprecedented view-distance, and combines them with improved gameplay scenarios that will challenge players to utilize an even broader range of strategies and survival tactics to uncover the many secrets within the beautiful, but deadly islands.

Ubisoft sent out an interview with FarCry Instincts scriptwriter and game designer Patrick Redding giving us more insight in FCI's game mechanics.

At the beginning of the game, Jack learns to improvise a simple branch whip and lure unsuspecting mercs to their doom by tossing pebbles in the right spot to get their attention. The mechanics are pretty straightforward: Press the black button to bring up the trap reticle, which in the case of the whip is a translucent branch that goes opaque when it’s positioned over a usable tree. The player pulls the right trigger to bend the branch into position and it’s set.Read the complete developer Q&A (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=25959) over at WorthPlaying, or you can check the new FarCry Instincts screens & trailer (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=25951).

Ubisoft is blending the winning formula of Far Cry for the PC with the hardware capabilities of the consoles

Haha, that's funny. The PS2 is past it prime graphics wise and Xbox is no spring chicken, this game was written for PC hardware that is a lot more cabable than current gen consoles. Unless you don't have a decent gaming computer or are willing to pay $50 for a few new levles I really don't see any reason to pick this game up.

Unless you want to play online, from a comfy couch, big screen, with surround sound and with a cold beer in your hand that is.

Instincts sound even better than the original. I love the PC version very much. Any Xbox code gurus out there who can do a quick port of Instincts? Please? :)

Scratch off the online play and cold beer, since those are the same on PC.

So comfy couch, big screen and surround sound eh? In my experience, my computer chair is the single most confortable place to sit I know of (couches don't compare), my screen is just fine (size is variable based on your distance from the screen after all) and...well, maybe you missed this, PCs do have surround sound. Please don't reply to this portion, go find a PC versus console thread and have at it. The original posters point was simply the quote that the PS2 hardware compared to a PC is hilarious (and it is, unless you're in complete denial). Now back on point.....

It's good to see this going to the consoles, I really hope their marketing department steps it up. They can't assume the mainstream already knows about the game since it was out on PC. Though granted, it probably doesn't need the level of advertising saturation that GTA:SA and Advent Rising have been getting lately.

I'm pretty sure this is only on Xbox now. They were originally going to do a PS2 version but it got scrapped.

"Just as Far Cry redefined the First-Person Shooter genre for the PC, Far Cry Instincts will take things a step even further with its wide open environments and unique immersive gameplay elements. Developed by Ubisoft's renowned Montreal studio, Far Cry Instincts takes the PC version's signature locations, Full-Action Response A.I. (F.A.R. concept), and unprecedented view-distance, and combines them with improved gameplay scenarios that will challenge players to utilize an even broader range of strategies and survival tactics to uncover the many secrets within the beautiful, but deadly islands."
What a load of shite. I'm amazed that whooever wrote this isn't hurt with that advertising cock so far down his throat. Far Cry didnt redefine ANYthing, and it was no revolutionary in the least. Unprecedented view distance my arse. Games years older than it had far larger viewdistances WITHOUT invisible enemies.

True, that's pretty nice. More of a cinema thing though. I could argue that the same rig could display for your PC just as easily as for your console, so it really makes no difference. The original point was about graphics hardware though, so this is really getting off-topic now.

Other Games also had transparency effects before Far Cry. Its not a horrendous game, but its nowhere near as good as its drooling fanboys claim it to be, and it is in no way revolutionary.

I liked Far Cry because the A.I. was pretty good. No it wasn't revolutionary, but it was good. Instincts looks like a horse's ass dragged through mud twice.

Unless you don't have a decent gaming computer or are willing to pay $50 for a few new levles I really don't see any reason to pick this game up.It’s not a few new levels, it’s a completely different game with a much different story arc that ends up with you having some pretty strange abilities. If you notice the main character gets injected with the feral serum pretty early on and starts developing some of the traits that the things you fought in the PC game had.

What’s funny is that the guy’s name; Patrick Redding, abbreviates as PR, so all the responses are from PR, the perfect guy to explain everything.
