Damn, if that's in game? Wow! I'd like to see what it looks like in motion.

Love me some rally! Too bad we won't see a Rallisport Challenge 3...2 was a great game!

Damn, is it just me or is the screenshot looking a bit underwhelming?!? And you piss your pants? Played to much Wii lately I guess ;)

They look pretty nice but those don't strike me as "Are those in-game!?!"-quality.

Looks cool...
Ive never been a fan of rally games though = \

Wow, looks similar to Motorsport E3 trailer, but I would like to see it motion.

i like how the mud looks three dimensional; doesn't look just like a texture plastered on.

I love Rally games (especially the part of GT3 but thats another story), this actually looks pretty decent. I just need to see it in motion.
I think he's joking, though I could be wrong. Those aren't that impressive to my eyes. Might look better in motion though?

Looks alright. But i'm still waiting for the day when the tires actually look like they are griping road, instead of just resting on the surface the road.

I think I am going to have to avoid future screenshot threads. People like to jump in to say things like "looks terrible", when there is no way they can actually think that. The graphics in 90% of the games coming out now are impressive. As impressive as other games in the genre? Maybe not, but still rather impressive. Jaded does not even begin to describe the level of dismissal. Maybe it is getting down to the fact that screenshots are becoming less and less reliable in terms of determining how good a final game will look in motion. Static screenshots were fine when we were dealing with pixels and a 16-bit color pallete, but now, not so much.

Looks pretty good to me, but stills and motion are too very different things. Additionally, what's more important to me is how the cars feel and handle. After that it's all the gameplay options, which includes online options.
Stills don't tell me much of anything. Graphics are about 30% of what I care about and stills tell me very little compared to motion.
Lastly, video quality on captures is rarely up to my HD-TV quality, so even in motion it's often difficult to compare. Video capture equipment and resolutions vary so much. Most people jump to judgement to quickly, IMO.

Yea, I don't see it either. Looks good, but not Motorstorm good. We'll have to wait until footage, I guess.

Two things:
1) what happened to that Colin McWhatever DiRT game? That thing looked WAYY better than both Motorstorm AND this.
2) Motorstorms appeal, to me, was never what it looked like, but the concept of all those different vehicled navigating the course at once and the different plusses and minuses related to each vehicle. Why is all that people care about graphics?

It's 5 damn, low res, screen shots of a game that's probably still a year away from being finished with no context of where they came from in the game, or if they're even in game at all. How can you, in any way whatsoever, judge the quality of the games graphics from that?

The screens aren't initally impressive... At least until you happen to notice that the track isn't flat and smooth, like it's been packed down by a bulldozer, like every other rally game in existence.

Racing car games don't mean dick if they are pretty. it's all about the car handles.

Sega Rally was the only Rally game I actually liked playing. Maybe because it had little to do with actual rallying games in general. You actually had oponents that we're visible for instance:p

Looks nice. The one thing I'm hoping for is that there's a collectors edition version that includes arcade-perfect ports of Sega Rally and Sega Rally 2. I'd pay an extra $10 for that! :D

I wont be happy until I get my next gen Rallisport. Or even backwards compatible Rallisport 2 would make me happy.
I am sorry, but Dirt by Codemasters looks much better than this game. These screen shots are nothing to write home about IMO.

Honestly, this doesn't look any better than Richard Burns Rally to me, and that game is 3-4 years old at this point.
The devs said in a recent EDGE interview that they managed to make it look very real very quickly but that it took rather a while longer to make it look stylized.
To be honest I think it looks great, The car skins are a bit lo-res at the moment but hopefully they will fix that. The mud effects are great and in same said interview they said that the surfaces will change thanks to your cars tyres. Pits will be ground into mud changing the next lap and making it more realistic.
Looks promising, although admitedly DIRT looks realerer.

I think it looks good. Better than motostorm? I don't know until I see motion, but I also don't care. Sega makes kickass rally games and I've been dying for one ever since my xbox/games got stolen. Count me as interested fo sho!

I wasn't even aware there was a PS2 version of that game. Must have been a shell of itself as there's no way the physics could have been as good on the PS2.
That said:

The cars in particular don't look like that impressive a leap over RBR given the age of the title.
Of course, I'm not overly interested in arcade racers, so this is kind of academic to me anyway.

come on now, its not even close. these pre release still captured screenshots are levels above rbr in every way. i liked rally games but never took them serious, it should be fun to set some top times on them.

That's an STI in the screenshot. Heck, I've got one of those, and a muddy dirt road. Let me tell you, the physics are great, and so is the rendering. It's just like real life!
The crashes suck though. Cost me about two PS3's last time I spun it.

I'm just not getting a "wow" off these screens. It looks just a bit better than Excite Truck with a bigger emphasis on motion blur.
On the other hand, it's good that Sega isn't releasing bullshots for this game. I wonder how it will wind up playing. I love arcadey racing games, so I probably won't be terribly interested in this if it's too realistic.

I'm really glad lost posted that pic. Screens from this gen don't tend to impress me at first, but seeing them up against similar titles from last gen really makes the differences stand out.

Uh...what are you talking about? Should I judge the quality of the games graphics from...a sound file? Perhaps a quick black and white sketch done by a street artist? Your very description is what I am talking about. It looks terrible its new. Do you think he posted them so that NO one would comment and the thread would have no comments and just disappear?

Are you saying that those of us who think those pictures look bad...don't think that? They look bad. I think that. Your reading far too much in someone saying a games screen shots look terrible. There is NOTHING jaded about that. Its an observation of the screen shots shown to us. How else would you have us judge it? Why else have the screen shots on there. Or post them in a screen shots thread. It's not like anyone is saying the game sucks. We can't know that, but we CAN know that those screenshots are not the best.
