IGN (http://www.ign.com) has posted a new Training Session video (http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/825/825894/vids_1.html) of EA's upcoming action game for Xbox 360 and PS3, Army of Two.
Army of Two throws gamers into hot spots ripped from current day headlines where they will utilize unique two-man strategies and tactics while seamlessly transitioning between playing with intelligent Partner AI (PAI) and a live player. When one man is not enough, it will take an army of two to fight through war, political turmoil and a conspiracy so vast it threatens the entire world.
Someone at Electronic Arts has a sense of humor. First there was the Battlefield: Bad Company trailer, now this. I approve.

I don't approve of anything EA does. Ever. Period.
EA is the devil.
End. Of. Story.

That was surprisingly funny.

On one hand the game looks pretty, though on the other the dialog is pretty forced and mostly the opposite of funny. I dunno, it just looks sort of bland all-around.

The trailer for Battlefield: Bad Company was one of the best game trailers I've ever seen and if the game can keep up even half of that level then it should be really good in a comedy action movie that you are playing sort of sense.
Army of Two seems to have some good concepts going for it. I'd like a demo to see how they play out though. EA is pretty notorious for promising something brilliant but botching the execution to play it safe. However, as Def Jam: Icon turned out pretty good in my opinion things are actually looking up at the old EA factory.
Also, Thenetcase, get over yourself. You are like the Evil Avatar version of the Linux Army or the Cult of Mac over at Slashdot and Digg. I bet your kinda miffed there's no shorthand version of EA that has an S so you can change it to $. Sometimes out of the well polished turds they churn out EA does manage to deliver a pretty good game. But go ahead and drink the haterade, the rest of us will be enjoying the good games they put out while you are sitting there angrily shaking your fist in the air.

Can anyone explain to me why the guys in Army of Two are wearing that terribly ugly armor?

It's supposed to be a form of psychological warfare... Throwing your enemies off by distracting or scaring them.
EA can be dodgy sometimes, but some of their teams (Criterion & Maxis) are actually quite excellent. Given EA Montreal's roots at Ubisoft Montreal (I think they stole people) I'm curious to see what they can do... If you do actually have to rely on team tactics this could be gold, the artificial stupidity of Dom and the GoW crew could be irritating at times.... And there was little motivation to keep them breathing.

You mean other than avoiding Diakatana-esque game overs to punish you for stupid AI buddies?

Is this the game from E3 where you could trick out your gun to make it look cooler and stuff?
If not, can someone tell me what that game was? I was trying to show my friend how stupid it looked.

am I on crack thinking your talking about Crysis? I remember you can add a bunch of stuff on your gun on the fly while in game. I could be wrong though.

My favorite game for tricking out guns was Hitman Blood Money. My god, the hardballers looked so stupid by the time your done upgrading them, scopes and lasers and extentions all over the guns where they look like a cuckoo-clock of doom.
Army of Two seems have some good ideas, buuut, the question is if it will be fun.

They have a very cool gun modification system they're developing.
Nothing like duct taping a shotgun to my assault rifle...:)

I'm so torn on this game. I love the art direction they've taken for the two main characters, on the other hand there seems to be a lot of awkward dialog and the one guy's voice sounds way too whiny.

If not, can someone tell me what that game was? I was trying to show my friend how stupid it looked. This is the game, you've got it right. I'm really looking forward to tweaking out the guns. There's the obvious gold plating, but they also mentioned being able to do useful stuff to your gun. Here's hoping they'll have stuff like modifying the grips to increase stability, or loosening the trigger weight (they could actually change the deadzone on the analog trigger, which would be a cool way of handling it).
They've got to offer different kinds of body armor and helmets though, these guys don't look like 2 dudes out of a buddy-cop movie wheras the ones in Battlefield do (not in combat anyway, they have their masks off at the end of the vid).

def jam turned out pretty good? you must be a graphic whore then.. because def jam is a piece of sh1t... huge step backward comapred to def jam 2.. its not a real fighter because there is absolutely no deep fighting system and second the oh so new and important music aspect has ZERO affect on the gameplay.. pure nonsense

Really? I quite liked it, and I'm normally pretty fussy about that kind of thing.
What platforms is this for?
