Looks like Nintendo is supporting Third-Party developers.

Nintendo World Report (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/specialArt.cfm?artid=13100) writes:
Shimada spoke of a development application called NintendoWare. Being made by Nintendo and HAL, NintendoWare emulates Wii hardware on a PC so that developers can sample parts of their games without having to load it to a Wii dev machine.

Also, predictive input software for the Controllers and text-to-speech software. Quick Summary and Source:

Pretty obvious move for Nintendo to make.

Anybody roughly know what Wii dev kits run? I know Nintendo had talked about making them relatively inexpensive last I'd read.

"NintendoWare emulates Wii hardware on a PC".

Wii emulator? Homebrew drivers for Wiimote for pc?
Sounds like Wiimulator is coming. (Take that, PCSX2)

Oh yeah, this will so be leaked.... and I would so download it. I dont really give a damn about playing Wii games on my PC... I have a Wii. But I want real Wii controller drivers for my PC. Not this semi hacked stuff that exists now.

Now this is what we need to see. Keep up the good development tools.

They cost around $2k, last I heard.

Semi hacked? I think the Wii controller has been pretty figured out... http://www.wiibrew.org/index.php?title=Wiimote

Imagine if this software got out in the open :OWell, remember final code that actually runs on a Wii console is encrypted. My guess is this Wii-emulator runs only unencrypted code.

So while it would be a windfall for someone interested in writing or running homebrew, I doubt it will be any use to those who just want to run pirate copies of released games.

Mu ha ha ha ha, it's only a matter of time now, of course it will have some good protection on it. as there is a DS one as well, I thought, but I have not seen it leaked to the net yet either.

Still nowhere near a full device driver level support. I played with it a month back and it was basically just a novelty thing. Heres hoping things have improved greatly since.
