Seriously, it's all but impossible to aptly describe hoe splendid this title is until you see it in motion. I was very impressed with what I saw...

This is just looking to be a great game, and a very interesting tool for playing with level design. I can't stop drooling at the prospects of this game, the pretty graphics are just the icing on the cake.

I caught a video of this on some G4tv show while channel surfing the other day. It looks neat, but ... what's the point of this game? I am clueless as to what you are actually doing in this Little Big Planet.. just riding around on oversized skateboards, or is there an actual story? Maybe no one knows.. and that's the real mystery.
I'm tired leave me alone, fuck DST.

Three Speech also have some HD footage (http://www.threespeech.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/clips/LittleBigPlanet_420x236_300kps.mov) of it in action. :)

You solve puzzles, jump over obstacles and collect things. That's pretty much it. It seems that there are no enemies in the game so the only real challenge is those jump puzzles.

It's essentially a 'build-your-own-platform-adventure-using-physics' toolset.

Hopefully there will be a way to make a level and put it online for anyone else to play. Not so much that I want people to play my levels, rather I want to be able to browse the world's work and play other people's levels.

From what they were saying in the keynote, that's one of the main focuses for the game. They referred to it as a "YouTube for games". :D

That's a huge part of it. The goal will be to have your level downloaded most. Charts will track the downloads and the idea is to get to number one. And if you do get to number one? Well, that would be telling... :)

Yeah, and you can leave comments on other people's levels, too. Looks pretty interesting. :)

First off the music has been stuck in my head now for a week...disgustingly cute.
Second off this looks like a lot of fun and I love the graphics. Can't wait to try a demo. Perhaps my PS3 wont just be a bluray player.

It's too bad there aren't any actual on-screen enemies, but working through the puzzles may be rewarding enough on their own. For all the slack Sony gets (even from developers) about how developer unfriendly they are, it seems as though they seem to attract the most off-beat games. Odd.
I'm guessing that the reason the game is able to look so fantastic is because the level isn't as big as an entire map. Which is why this game (from what I've seen) is able to look better than Gears (IMO). Similar to fighting games where the focus is just to players and the fighting stage.
I'm a complete graphics whore and this game looks Sweet!!! Yet, it still isn't a killer app and I still won't be buying a Ps3 until their is a major price drop (which means I'm waiting for it to be 299-350).

You'll be waiting a looooong time for that, as there seems to be no 20 gig model any more; a very long time.

That snowboarding flash game(name escapes me) is probably the closest comparison. The one where people design their own levels and record their efforts. The final disk version of the game will have the best levels designed by the public included according to 1up.

There won't be a PS3 price drop this year. If it drops 50 bucks in 2008 you're still not in the 299-350 price range. Assuming another 50 drop in 2009 and you're still not there. So if you're honestly going to wait for that price point then you might be waiting till 2010 and at that point the graphics won't be that impressive.
If you really like the game then safe your pennies now.

The artstyle in this game reminds me of a more happy version of a Tim Burton film. I like it.

More happy Tim Burton film? Something about that just sounds wrong.
It is really cool! Combined with the Home interactive world and the possibilty to make PS3 a monster streaming HD player, I'm seriously considering a purchase sometime in July/August. Seems to me Sony made some good decisions for a change. I hope they will sell more systems, as it is never a good thing to have one leader in the console business.
When Halo3 comes Xbox360 will once again own the news.

Oh, I appreciate the gothic style of Burton's films. But sometimes they are a bit drab even for me. So much work is put into those sets and those puppets that it would be nice to see a color pallete that varies more than from pale grays to dark blues.

Indeed, it's the first game to make me take interest in the PS3. (Though I gotta see more before I commit to a system.)

Very nice art style. I like it when a game looks good without trying to look ultra-realistic.

I hear ya on the price range! I bought my 20 Gig PS3 in Jan when there was a $150 off when you sign up for a Sony credit card offer. $350 for a PS3 is the right price IMHO. = )
Peace!

That's fair, I guess. Didn't he deviate from that in Big Fish?

Hmmmm...looks like a kiddy game. But after Viva Pinata, I will hold off judgement.
It seems Sony's momentum train is still chugging along nicely... quick, grab the muzzles before Kutaragi and Hirai fuck it up again!!! :D

Game has made me legitimately think about buying a PS3 sometime this year. Didn't think that would happen until MGS4. It looks like a lot of fun, but I'm curious how this game works with only one player, or if it requires you to have other people to play with. I'd also like to see more examples of the type of puzzles possible, and perhaps some sense of what the overriding goal of the game is.

I'm loving the pictures, however, it would take a whirlwind of games of this calibur to make me shell out $600. I guess that's why I like Sony failures - the more they fail, the more I don't feel like spending that money. This is one of the games I'll be sad about not having before I take comfort with my glorious money.
This game is the only reason I can see so far to have a PS3.

I certainly agree that the PS3 is not worth the money right now, but why would it take "a whirlwind of games?" This system is $200 more than the competitor, so why does it take exponentially more product to make it worth the cost?

Mayhap we define whirlwind differently. I would need a lot of "buys" for me to get one, and even more "rents".
Also, I'm not looking at it in terms of "competitor". I'm looking at it's own thing - I dropped about $700 at the Wii launch - who knows what kind of disturbing amounts of money I could spend on a PS3! It's my budget versus the games, and my budget is winning.

For those of you talking about the music, if you saw the same trailer I did then the song was Get it Together by The Go! Team. It's from their awesome album Thunder Lightning Strike.
