Blizzard Entertainment (http://www.blizzard.com/) today announced that World of Warcraft, its massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), has officially launched in China.
Players in China can now download the game, create accounts and experience the epic adventure of the Warcraft series in an immersive and continually evolving online environment. The commercial launch of World of Warcraft follows a highly successful open beta period in China during which the game reached a peak concurrency the total number of subscribers playing simultaneously of more than 500,000 players.Check the Full Story over at Game Industry (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/press_release.php?aid=9329).

Your "more lag" joke makes no sense at all considering they will be on totally different servers.
I mean, even if I were to suspend my common disbelief that joke would not work.
Seriously though, aside from poking fun, this news is good for China I guess?
Who will gold farm the gold farmers? This will only lead to madness. MADNESS!!!

China? Too far west. This game should have launched in Korea.
If it hasn't already done so. :p

So... 2M subscribers before or after this launch?
Damn this game did well... console-style well.

Are you kidding? It launched in Korea before Europe. They know which side their bread is buttered on.
A friend of mine from the US now lives in and teaches English in China. Anyone know if they'll be able to download the software there and play on US servers? Is it tied to billing? Something else?

Apples > oranges.
Yet, oddly, orange juice > apple juice.

pepsi may be better than... cola, but coke owns pepsi any day.
And why do people think its a good thing to have more chinese players on WoW? Hell, the ones who got it early damn near drove me from the game!

I prefer GW too but I dont play MMORPG's either. What I find most interesting about this is how the Chinese Government will attempt to censor communication within the game world. I wonder if you can do the falun gong dance in WOW: China Edition.

Can't argue with that.

Pepsi is easily better than Coke. No contest. Coke tastes like sludge =/ Pepsi tastes like liquid ambrosia.
I also prefer apple juice to orange juice, yet oranges to apples.
On topic, I prefer reading or sitting here and doing nothing over playing WoW. For some reason WoW felt more like a job than any other game I've played. Maybe it's all those stupid "bring this beer to guard joe" or "kill xxxxs until you have 10 yyyys" quests.

Yeah, really. Maybe the Jesus Christ of gaming over there should start throwing his be-all, end-all proclamations somewhere else.

I personally think that...
Pepsi x Coke / Dr. Pepper + Pizza (and) Buffalo Wings = Heartburn for hours.

How bout this... Guild Wars != WoW or maybe, GuildWars <> WoW.
Two different games, for two completely different player bases.

Hahah you people are such suckers for what was obviously a post to just pisses people off and get them posting. :)
Obviously, Guild Wars isn't like WoW, they're different games, but WoW is still like a job and GW is a game.

Honestly, I'm not sure how WOW will do in China. The Chinese market is the wild west of MMORPGs, and they already have a few insanely popular locally produced games. Also, the Chinese have their own fantasy-type genre that is completely different from the dungeons-and-dragons based worlds of Western RPGs.

Anyone who prefers pepsi over coke is retarded.

Fuck all that shit. Jolt cola, bitches.
This is why I come here. I could possibly go out somewhere and pick up a magazine (Ziff Davis and all there crap incarnations) but no. I come here where the news is always ripe and we can somehow go from WoW launching in China for a page and then four pages thereafter of cola discussion. I love this place.

This is true. However, Coke with whiskey > Pepsi with whiskey. The universe, and cola's, are mysterious things.

Guild Wars > WoW. Flame away, you'll be wrong. :)
LOL! Yes, because, obviously, they have already touted millions of copies sold in multiple countries.
No need to flame - you are merely dead wrong.
EDIT-
And yea, Coke > Pepsi
Oranges > Apples
Apple Juice > Orange Juice
Fried Cheese > String Cheese
McDonalds Fries > Burger King Fries
Ford > Chevy
...

You populist bastard, use your own mind! ;)
Pepsi > Coke
Apples > Oranges
Apple and Orange juice both suck, apple for flavor, orange because it fucks with my stomach like nothing else.
Cheese is meant to be put in sandwiches, dammit.
Wendy's fries annihilate all competition, but only if you find a Wendy's that salts them properly. Burger King fries are teh suck.
And who makes the Corvette? Chevy. Done deal. The Z06 has a 427 small block, baby. 500 horsepower, and it will be mine... someday...

WoW is a really well put together MMORPG that brings nothing new of any significance to the genre. Had fun for a couple months playing, but after the third time trying an instance where I spent 2+ hours and wiped because people either stink or leave I decided to call it quits.
