Dogtown only did 5.7 mil?

That sucks. It was a damn good movie.

Indeed Cinderella man was quite good. To paraphrase Ebert. "I like how he isn't the commander of a fleet, somebody in the position in great power. He plays the underdog and plays it well"

Cinderella man was so good, Russel Crowe decided to hit someone with a telephone (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=765&e=1&u=/nm/20050606/people_nm/crowe_dc) to celebrate it.

In other news, I saw Star Wars with the fiancee again this weekend, I enjoyed it even more the second time.

I'm still waiting on MY beautyful fiancée to go see Star Wars again, but I can't wait to go, I'm sure she'll love it as much as I.

Star Wars was very good, I must say. It was funny that he HAD to put in Jar Jar, but muted his ass.

The battle sequences were very nice and some of them had scenes that looked better, detail wise, than anything I've seen on the big screen.

Cinderella Man was very good. Problem was, the first half (AKA: The Jersey Grapes of Wraith) was a little too long and made the film feel like two movies in a row, rather than a full one.

Why does anything with Adam Sandler always become a huge grosser? It makes me sick. The guy is/WAS funny...but all his movies are the same peanut butter in a different shaped chocolate shell. BORING, predictable, and cliched as hell. Punch Drunk Love is the only movie I can think of that wasnt exactly like that...and it was an indie flick which probably describes why I enjoyed it more than the others.

Dogtown was *way* overpromoted. Reminded me of the nonstop Bubbleboy media blitz a few years back. I was glad to see that film take in less than 1 million on opening weekend.

My movie going experiences have to be give-and-take, so I need to pick my battles carefully. For instance, I take my wife to see Star Wars and I'm then indebted to see Madagascar - one I'm actually looking forward to. However, for her going to see Batman this coming week, I am to go see Monster-in-law because it has that "hot" guy from Alias in it. It is either my hope the film leaves theaters within a week or I find the courage to have a wild animal rake out my eyes.

Somehow I married someone that's the polar opposite from me and we get along so well. She makes a mean set of pancakes.

Your wife, too? I feel your pain, dude. And neither Garner nor the girl playing her sister do anything for me, so when Alias comes on I either give a (very) loud "the things I put up with" sigh and dredge up a book or disappear to the basement and the computer.

I think it's those killer cheekbones. They can cut glass, man!

Also, on the note of Sandler...I really could not stand him after Happy Gilmore/Billy Madison. I wanted him to go away. Quickly. Then I saw Punch Drunk Love and had some renewed hope. Then I saw Spanglish (figured it was a good date movie; it was) and he realllly suprised me. I'm not saying The Longest Yard will be good by any means, but Sandler really has matured, so good on him.
