It's only a couple of months, and at least we now have a concrete date to note on our desk calendars...

Source - Computer & Video Games (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=159066).

Irrational Games' Xbox 360 and PC FPS has been slapped with a confirmed North American release date of August 21.

It means the title has been delayed slightly - previously Bioshock had been given June release.

The UK arm on Bioshock publisher 2K Games informed CVG that it's awaiting confirmation on a UK release date when contacted earlier.
So there it is, August 21, 2007 for North America and August 24, 2007 for Europe.

Editor's Note - 3Suns just let me know that there's yet another Bioshock-related competition ongoing, this time it's a Descent Into Rapture T-Shirt Design (http://www.threadless.com/loves/bioshock) competition. There's also some nifty wallpapers (http://www.2kgames.com/cultofrapture/downloads.html) available for download. - fitbabits

Well, Europe will probably be October then. At least it will give me some room to buy all those other games appearing between now and july.

Not too bad of a delay. Nice thing to look forward to this summer.

AUGUST ?? I can't wait till August !! AARRGGHH !!!

OK maybe I can. It's just that, dammit I'm looking forward to this game. Also, every morning my 360 looks up at me with sad, moistened, puppy-dog eyes and says to me, in a sad, mournful, pleading voice "when is Bioshock coming Daddy ? When ?".

Then it makes a little sniffing noise, and settles into humming a quiet montage consisting of musical highlights from the System Shock soundtracks, and it's now famous Shodan impression.

Breaks my heart a little, every day. *SIGH*

I hate to tell you this (or, I guess, your 360), but the August date is for North America. Chances are it won't make its way over the pond till September or October.

Plus, you need to get out more. Fresh air is not only good for the soul, it's good for many other things as well. :)

Shhh. Don't tell it that. I need to be able to plead ignorance when it doesn't show. Don't you realise that the 360 has a net connection ?? It reads the same things I do, but it might not make the connection.

Seriously, if it reads your post, god knows what kind of drama I'm going home to tonight. I'm only glad I never told it my EvAv screen name.

And as for fresh air... Well, that's all well and good, but the wind blows in Cyrodiil and it rains in Azeroth.

Besides, whenever I try to go anywhere without my 360 it just moans and moans. Makes my life hell when I come back. "Your Geometry Wars score isn't going to increase itself ya know !?". Nag nag nag.

Seriously, I sometimes think I would be better off on my own, but I'm just now sure how it would cope without me.

August is not really summer to me (even though it's hot as hell). I guess I'll have to make Mass Effect last that much longer then. Maybe the KOTOR II Restoration project will finally be done, that'd help kill some time.

Good thing I traded my pre-order on Bioshock for Crackdown... Too bad about the delay I am really looking forward to this.

Meh. If they don't delay further, I'll be surprised.

Disappointing, but it's only two months. Sadly, though, those two months are my gaming-heavy summer break.

The new screenshots that came out the other day look like a total downgrade.

I don't think the Euro release will be THAT far behind to be honest. 2K Games are usually quite good with release dates, Prey's Euro release was only 3 days behind the US release. Same goes for Oblivion. As you get it on the Tuesday, we get it on the Friday. I'm betting a 24th of August European release.

It'll be the humid "dogdays"-a perfect time to "dive into" Rapture.
And this one, IMO, is well worth the wait.

Thank fucking Christ. I was just saying yesterday about this title, that my bank account thanks me if it comes out later. It also means I won't be stuck indoors this summer. Whew.

I'm quoting myself here because i was eerily correct:

This will give me more time to finish Mass Effect before picking this up. Previously, both games were coming out only weeks from each other. This is good.

Push backs are a GOOD thing. I mean getting mad or even annoyed over a push back is just silly. It's like, remind your self of some games that seemed a little rushed. <looks over at Fabe, KOTOR 2 and Halo 2> Then imagine them games you had to wait your ass off to play. Hell, just look at every single Zelda game. DNF is going to kick every ass on Evil Avatar cause it's pushed back.

A little thread-jackery, but a friend of mine (Shadowmage on the boards here) and I sat down to play through Halo 2 coop this past weekend as neither of us had ever played the single-player portion of the game and we'd just marathon'ed Halo 1 the previous weekend...

We got about 30 minutes into the game before just writing the game off as a failure. That entire game isn't just rushed, it's totally fucked up.

And I love me some Halo 1.

Good. I'm sick of games that release before they're ripe. Superman Returns leaps immediately to mind.

This is good news for BioShock, but delays arent always like that. To everybody saying 'delays are good' I just want to say that simply isnt always true. Some games end out as tripe anyway and delays are often a sign a studio is having major problems. But yea, not with BioShock.

Last thing we want is a short/watered down/buggy game. And since its in the hands of a competent, and now financially well off (Take Two bought them) developer you know that extra time they got will be well spent.
