There's a high quality 12 minute video (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=7142) of Prey in action up at Fileshack (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=7142), Worthplaying (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=25878) and 3D Gamers (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/prey/downloads/).

Those portals are extremely cool.

That video floored me. Very surreal, that part with the little girl was awesome. Excellent use of the Doom 3 engine. Too bad it's an '06 game.

Checkout some of the links further down on the page; direct downloads to some bigass videos files like Zelda and BF2.

I loved the part with the little girl. The use of gravity (or lack of) is awesome also.

Wow, that just sold me on the game.

Wow, looks really nice. Has some very intersting interactions. But, um, so now we have portals instead of monster closets?

EDIT: And I thought there was an unwriten rule about violence against children in TV/movies/games. Maybe that was just me.

Either they just shot their load and showed most of the cool stuff or this game is going to be pretty boring. What happened to wide open spaces that Far Cry demonstrated?

This looks like an old game with updated graphics.

Sinistar -- if this is the same video that was posted last week, you definitely missed a part with "wide open spaces" -- the part where the player gets into a small spaceship and flies to the planetoid being bombarded with asteroids. That's about as wide open as spaces get, I think.

Huh? UT2004 had more wide open space - space then what was shown in the video. I don't know, Prey was pretty boring before and it looks like it's more of the same with a prettier engine.

And the golden rule always seems to be that if the game sucks make it better looking so it'll sell.

Ya I am not a fan of straight up FPS's as a general rule but this game had enough interesting shit going on in it that it will probably be a buy for me. I mean how can you not reward someone who has this kind of originality when it comes level and weapon design.

And I personally prefer portals to unexplained monster closets. At least portals you can work into a storyline.

Wow, that part with the kids was really surprising.

I'm not a huge fan of FPS myself, but a few always catch my interest, like halflife(1+2), etc. Looking at the video, I think I'll have a go at this too. The gravity and portal stuff seems interesting/fun, and the bit with the kid was surprising too. Looks good so far.

all i know is that alot of people shit talked this game from the begining and now they are going wow. Maybe people can hope for better things next time? positive attitudes result in positive situations.

yeah, the gameplay in that..i'm not sure what the hell was going on, but it definitley didn't look like your typical FPS. The portal effect is very neat as well.

Wow, I take it all back, there really IS a GAMe there and not just riding off of some ancient BS promise/tech demo circa 1997!

I think I"m gonna have to pick this one up now!

(It does still look too much like Doom3 though, but at least the gameplay looks cool!)

It was boring before? When did you play it?
