February 23, 2007 - You won't have to wait much longer to experience the universe of BioWare's RPG Mass Effect. Del Rey is releasing two novels that serve as prequel to the highly-anticipated title. The first novel, Mass Effect: Revelation, is due to arrive on store shelves in May.

Penned by Drew Karpyshyn, lead writer on the Mass Effect videogame, Revelation introduces readers to Alliance war hero David Anderson. Commander Anderson has been forced to team with a rogue alien agent to investigate the ruins of a secret research facility.

"We're excited to be working on original Mass Effect novels with BioWare whose track record of successful and high-quality video games speaks for itself," said Keith Clayton, an editor at Del Rey. "And between Drew's close involvement with the Mass Effect IP and his ability to tell an engaging story, the novels will draw fans even further into the rich world of Mass Effect."

"We're excited to be working with Del Ray Books on expanding the Mass Effect universe," said Ray Muzyka, CEO of BioWare Corp. "We are thrilled to have Drew writing the book as he has the knowledge and skills to make a great novel."
Everyone's excited. Including me...

I like the idea, it might help someone (myself) get into the story right off the bat. Anyone remember The Dig. ;)

Oooh! More Mass Effect. Is it 360 exclusive? Are there screen shots? You must give me! Does my 360 come with novel support or is it an extra download?

You aparently have the ability to type so I assume you can read so you shouldn't have to download any add-ons.

Wow, it is already the “award-winning video game”. I know it probably won stuff like “best of show” at E3 and the like, but come on…

Maybe the awards are prequels...

1) A sci-fi novel
2) based off of a video game
3) which has been called "Jack Bauer in Space" by Bioware's CEO.

This game will own all nubz.

nub (nŭb) pronunciation
n.

1. A protuberance or knob.
2. A small lump.
3. The essence; the core: the nub of a story.

So this game will own all small lumps?

Your mom's a small lump!

I always feel like such a child when I laugh at something like that.

Thanks all the same though. :)

You'll just encourage him.

Anyway, this may well be my first foray into videogame literature.

I read Fall of Reach at the suggestion of a friend. It was much better than I anticipated. I still dislike the games.

Is there a big market for game or movie to novel adaptations? I remember reading some Nintendo ones when I was a kid, like Blaster Master and Castlevania, but I was a KID (I ate at McDonald's too--kids don't have the most discerning tastes). I suppose there very well could be a market for this crap, just like there is for Adam Sandler and bland superhero movies.

Halo novels, the PDZ novel was pretty cool... um...

Yeah, you like hentai? There's a whole bunch of videogame "novels" out there for your wandering eyes. Heheh. ;)

I don't read many gameing novels but I might pick up these ones. I think the last one I read was a Wing Commander one about Hunter and some bird people that fought the catpeople with the humans or something.

These ME novels sound cool and all but it kind of makes me wish their was a Kotor/Kotor 2 prequel novels now aswell.
