The title says it all. Check out the 3D PS3 screenshot here (http://media.gameinformer.com/downloads/downloads2014/movies/2006/drake/gameinformer.mov) from Game Informer.

Note: This requires Quicktime 7 to be installed.

Eh...this doesn't quite look as good as those screens (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25082&highlight=naughty) that leaked out earlier.

Different angle maybe, and why would they release it in a quicktime screen shot?

Ya that sorta sucks that it doesn't look like what they released earlier. Well they can always tweak it as they go I am sure they will

The 3D screenshot is kinda cool, but it doesn't seem to do the game much justice, at least not if this (http://www.naughtydog.com/comingsoon/index.html) trailer is any indication of what the game will look like.

I remember when there was screenshots like this for Burnout Revenge. I think I still have them saved somewhere.

Thats a pretty crappy position to have it in, all up close and more than a bit jaggy.

I dunno, generally I'm disappointed in the visuals being produced this gen, my hope is that once support for PS2 drops that multi-platform games will be generally better looking and when developers have more time with the PS3. Once they can get at least nearly the best of it then they will set their own benchmarks higher and that'll be good for us little XBox bitches too.

It's a nice enough thing, just pretty underwhelming.

I went from: This game looks cool to This game looks meh. Guess we will have to wait to see more. While the picture is cool looking with the 3d and what not, but it also doesnt seem to do it justice...

The screenshot doesn't do the game justice because the screenshot is in 3D and the game is probably in like 5 or 6D.

In 6D games wire into your ears and call you pretty names. I heard Drake likes to call boys like me "cock socket" straight into their brain cortexxxs, my pre-order has already been booked!!

I'm pretty sure Bungie did some of these with Halo 2 also.

Thats not a great pic, the model looks nice but the texture resolution is pretty poor. Work in progress though i suppose.

I like the whole panoramic renders as screen shots as it gives us the opportunity to look around the game world.

As for the people that cream their pants at the video versions...ANY HD video will look great when crammed down to 640x360 like the preview video. All those jaggies and dull textures you see in the QTVR get mashed down and anti-aliased into a nice buttery video file.

A frame at 1080p contains:
2,073,600 pixels

A frame at 640x360 (as shown in the video) contains:
..230,400 pixels

A full 1080p picture has 9x more pixels than a frame from the video preview.

They should have zoomed out a TAD. They picked probably the worst angle to make it look good. I know it's a work in progress, but I woulda held off on these screenshots. Regardless, the animation and overall environment is what made the game look cool to begin with, and thus I still have hope.

I found the Burnout shots (http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/driving/burnoutrevenge/downloads.html)...they called them VR shots back then apparently.

Thanks for digging these up. They are much nicer than the naughty dog one.

Car destruction, be it in slo-mo, 3d, 6d, or just my hot wheels, is always awesome.

this shot is really cool, but it has problems.
He is not only shooting a rock, he is directly looking at it too. while there are people shooting him.

That trailer never looked very convincing to begin with. The main character seems to be far too "aware" of his environment, as are the reactions and the way the camera moves. Wouldn't surprise me if it was all just rendered in an editor using game assets and scripted to make it look better, instead of actually running on the game engine.

I've always been a bit confused by this, so I guess I'll take the opportunity to ask.

If this is the case, why do all these 'high-res' trailers look better?

Its offical. The game is going to be part of the Librarian (http://imdb.com/title/tt0412915/) series.

Because they are higher res (usually 640x480 and up) than the "normal" ones, which are usually more like 320x240. "HD" starts at 1280x720 (and a few games have HD trailers out... but usually it's just "high-res"

Sometimes, I wish companies wouldn't release screen shots or videos at all prior to game going gold.

It's often not representative of the final game, although it makes great fodder for internet agruing. Games are either praised too highly based upon target screens/videos or dismissed by screens/videos based an unfinished game.

Usually, things are never as good or as bad as they seem. And unfinished anything is just that. Unfinished.

Is it just me, or does that model bear an uncanny resemblance to Joe Flanigan of Stargate: Atlantis?

baa im done with sony trailers, ill just wait.

they cried wolf too many times. and even that trailer never blew me away, though the animation did.

its naught dog, visualy, we have nothing, and mean nothing to worry about.

when done, even the biggest ms, or nintendo fanboy will drool,
they are very very good at making games look good.
imo almost as good as factor 5, if not their equal.

k, just checked it out, no, in the shot it isnt amazing, but if you look hard, i think this does it a huge injustice.
the more i looked at it and spun it, i can see it looking very very good in motion.

So with stuff like 1080p and 1080i, I know the I is interlaced and P is progressive. What is the actual resolution though? Something by 1080.

640/480 for stuff like 480p and 480i

1280/720 for 720p/i

What is it for 1080?
