Reported by IGN (http://www.ign.com), it looks like Japanese 360 owners will be grabbing the first free download for Blue Dragon tonight in just a few hours time:

The download is titled "Strong, New Game." With the download, three new options become available at the game's title screen: "hard," "super," and "new plus." The first two are new difficulty settings, which make the enemies harder than normal. The "new plus" option allows those who've cleared the game to start the adventure with their character's stats in tow.

Hopefully this will be set to download at release in North America (or already on the game disc).

I wanna know that too, teasing us with downloads when the game is probably half a year away.

June. So only a few more months.

Yes!

I was getting pretty sick of the grind getting my characters from lvl 70 odd to 99 for the extra achievements (you can beat the game proper quite easily at the low 50's) and give me a chance to go back for some of the earlier minigame achievements.

Moreover, this deals with one of the biggest criticisms I think a lot of people will level against the game, in that it is incredibly easy to coast through with no real effort. The last 1/3 of the game requires little to no strategy making the whole thing rather anticlimatic.

So harder settings are good in this case. I would just play on "super" I think ;)

You're already super...no need for the setting! ;)

I want this game! I want this game! I want this game yesterday!

/I'm excited.

Adding difficulty modes through DLC is a great idea, and I'd like to see it done a lot more. New Game +, though, should really just be a standard feature in all RPGs at this point.

But yeah, no reason for all these features not to be on the disc of the US version.

Yeah, I've read a couple of reviews of the Japanese version which said it was incredibly easy. It somewhat spoiled the options for character development, as it didn't really mater how you developed them, beating all the enemies was a walkover.
