There's an update on the fate of the YDKJ series from a Jellyvision staffer at "Blog: The Video Game" (http://media.herald-dispatch.com/blog/games/index.asp). Apparently, the series will be returning via a Web-based Flash game not available in stores. Good news for fans and anyone who enjoys being berated by a disembodied voice.

Woo! YDKJ was one of my favorite trivia games. And not just because I *ruled* at it.

Of course, I tend to rule at trivia in general, which then leads me to ask exactly what *useful* information has been pushed out of my head to make room for all this crud?

Freakin' INSTANT Wii 'favorite' webpage.

Oh, sweet nectar, YES! I seriously hope they still have the same quality writers (or at least, writers of the SAME level quality) writing for this that they had back in the "YDKJ:The Ride" hey day. I bought every single one of the Jack games, with the exception of Offline (I'd already played all the questions on the Netshow).

In fact, it was just a few months ago that there was a thread here on EvAv about how cool it would be to revive YDKJ:The Netshow on XBLA. Charge a minimal per-episode fee, support multiplayer like in YDKJ:5, and then just watch the micro-payments roll in.

Which brings me to an interesting thought--apparently, I'm not nearly so put off at the thought of micro-payments when it's paying for something that I really, REALLY want. :)

Yeah--this is just screaming for a Wii-friendly page to be implemented. Imagine three players, each with their own wireless controller, getting to play this. Freakin' sweet.

Wait, SINGLE PLAYER only? Boo....
I hear that. If it's only single player, I'll play an ad based version, but there's no way I'm paying for single player Jack.

hopefully once it get's popular enough on the web, we *will* see a YDKJ for XBLA. Interest has probably been there since in their suggestion page they have a whole section for it. In fact, this is the response you get if you sign up:

Wow! Are you saying that we should put YDKJ on [Insert name of system]? That is a great idea. Despite us making videogames for well over ten years, we honestly never thought of that! And believe me, [Insert your name here] - you are the only person who has suggested this, which is why it gives us great pleasure to send this highly personal e-mail that is definitely NOT automated. You are a marketing whiz. Please come work for us, or register on our site and sign up for e-mail updates, so if something of this nature (or anything else really great) happens, we will inform you by sending out a mass e-mail that only you will get!
Hi there,

Let me first apologize for sending you, [insert your name here], for this generic e-mail response. This just means that you are one of MANY people to contact us with a request for a specific console system that you think YDKJ should be released on. As much as I would love to respond to each and every one of you individually, it would just take too long. By the time I finished responding to all of them PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, etc. will be old new and we'll have moved on to PS4, Xbox 361, and the Wiiiiiii. So rest assured, we have taken all of the system into consideration. It is, however, not entirely up to us. It you want to see YDKJ on one of these consoles, contact their maker, not us. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have much more power when it comes to what goes on their system than we do. So go bother them! Take a stand, make a difference!

Thanks for your support and interest. I promise that I have read each one of your e-mails thoroughly and said to myself "Gee, this person makes some good points. I should really give a unique response to this one" right as I hit Ctrl+V.

Sincerely,
Jellyvision, Inc.

P.S.
Don't forget to register at www.ydkj.com and sign up for e-mail updates, that way, if we do decide to release YDKJ on [console of your liking here], you'll know right away!

These are on a long list of games I want to see on Gametap, this and The Lucas Adventure titles make the top 2.

After paying Hotel Dusk for the DS, I firmly believe that The Lucas adventure titles would be perfect there.
YDKJ on live? I don't know if it'd fit the system if you add the voice and video.

I have never played a YDKJ game before. I know people had been raving about them but I could not understand why a quiz game would be so popular. It is just questions right?

Well I just checked out Dis And Dat and wow... damn impressed. Very funny stuff. I assume YDKJ is very similar in terms of comedy value?

The Ride still stands as a comedy fucking experience. Fewer times in my life have I laughed harder or had more fun with my family. I don't think I've ever really had fun with my family.

Yeah, the same guy did all the voiceovers I can remember from the original YDKJ games...he's hilarious. The multiplayer games rocked. Each player had a few keys to choose from, so we had 3 people crowded around a keyboard. Man, I really think it'd be a blast.

Plus they had a 'screw' button that you could choose to screw your neighbor by forcing them to answer the question. If they got it right, they got points and YOU LOST points. If they got it wrong, you get points and they lose.

Lots of the old Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts classics are already playable on your DS. Just get a flash cart and then load it up with ScummVM DS (http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/). Absolutely delicious portable touchscreen adventure goodness. :)
