The horse has a mouth and it comes straight from it (http://www.guildwars.com/news/gameupdates.html). This one is a big update. Snippit:
Added requirement for a guild officer to be present to initiate or accept a guild battle. This can help guilds protect their rating by removing the potential for malicious or careless actions on the part of a guild member.
Added more boss-monster locations to high-level maps to make it easier for players to acquire elite skills.
Assured that the skills Battle Rage, Crippling Shot, Defy Pain, Punishing Shot, and Warriors Endurance are now used more frequently by the boss monsters that carry the skills, to make them easier to capture.
It just gets better and better. The devs must be listening...and doing.

I'm glad this game is doing so well...it shows developers and publishers that a successful game can exist without monthly fees. It's a great thing for gamers...i am thinking of picking it up even though I dont think I have the time sink (nor do i want to have it). Of course the expansions will cost money, but which dont?
Thank you Guild Wars, even though I do not play thee.
I'm happiest about the skill fixes, and more importantly, the fact that all rare armors actually drop what they're supposed to.
That'll make things so much easier for me.

Yeah, even though GW isn't my MMORPG of choice, good on them for this. It helps push the genre's level of quality forward.
As an asside, where is the cheapest place to buy it? Looks like it's on sale at best buy for 39.99. Can any where do better than that?

www.play.com - 17.99... if you're from the UK ^_^
yes these updates sound excellent. I'm pleased with the districts based on language, now I won't be stuck trying to talk to french people "Le sword de dragone slaying pour quoi?" .. wha?
Played this game for hours last night having a blast and I'm not even out of the post searing ascalon and I'm level 13.

Not to mention that the patches download and apply so quickly and smoothly.
Simply an awesome game.
It's not a MMRPG and does not have what monthly fees provide.

My copy's in state right now. Hopefully in the next day or two it'll be here. I don't think enough people understand why there's no fee, but nice to see another dev willing to give some free updates and content regardless. The change list is quite impressive.
Personally though, I never thought the update was all that smooth. When I played during the beta, I kept getting "please restart" notices, and upon restarting, not even a changelist as to what happened. I'd be more impressed if I didn't have to restart GW and the changes simply applied as I moved to a new town / area.
Of course, now that it's out of beta updates probably won't be flying around quite so much like they were. :)

Think I've had to restart once since I started playing, the updates usually happen when I'm offline. Starting GW, the patch is applied and it's like there never was an update. To think half my university didn't know about this until I spammed the school forums with it, that was near enough a year ago!

I just noticed that they changed the Balthazar's Aura thing. That's good, I was getting sick of every guild team I faced in the HoH using that exploit. Basically, you'd have several people cast it on one guy, who would then just run into the other team and wipe them all out instantly. No one could understand how they could do so much damage that fast.
rirath: The pace of updates is nothing at all like it was during the beta. Back then there were several builds a day sometimes, whereas now we're looking at one big update a week. And compare GW patch day to WoW patch day, and you'll realize how smooth GW's really is.
Sadly, it'd be an amazing pain to handle updates without restarting, since it's updating the executable that you're running. Yes, you could shadow-copy the executable file before running, but then you still have the problem of launching a new process with the new file and carrying the game's state over without introducing huge gaping security holes. While not technically impossible, it'd be a huge effort just to keep people from having to log in again.
