The Rock ....kicks ass, talk about perfect casting.

rant begin:
Fucking travesty. Casting is dead on, but the story, are you kidding me? You couldn't change the basic plot anymore unless the Rock was a commando from the future fighting hyper-evolved dinosaurs underwater on Tatooine.

"The stages of Barrandov Studios in Prague are filled with what feels like mile after mile of corridors of all different shapes and sizes"
It is a faithful adaptation!

the film is aiming to replicate the feel of the game as closely as possible, to be the most faithful video game adaptation ever. Why do I doubt that...

Epynonymous? Do they mean "eponymous"? Which wouldn't make much sense either.

I noticed that "most faithful video game adaptation ever" comment too. From what I've read about Doom the movie, the monsters aren't from hell, they are mutations of humans infected by a virus. That isn't even in the ballpark of most faithful video game adaptation.

director Andrzej Bartkowiak (Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave)
LOL
Might as well put Steven Segal into this steaming pile of upcoming shit and have him play a special agent cook who gets killed 20 minutes into the movie.

dude..you can sell that to 20th fox!! just add Lil' Jon as the wacky leader of the Dinosaurs Underwater Hyper-Evolved ( D. U. H.), Tara Reed as the queen of Tatoonie and have Uwe Boll direct the movie!!! after that make a game of it.. *use the guys who made Matyr" and finally kill yourself, ushering the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse

They should've killed him off that quick in every movie he was in.

For people who don't think this will be the best video game adaptation....lets look at the other candidates shall we?
Street Fighter
Final Fantasy
Resident Evil
Alone in the Dark
Double Dragon
Super Mario
but well I have to agree because...the best video game adaptation will always goto Mortal Kombat !! (techno music start)
edit: oh yeah and Splinter Cell the movie will probably have something to say about that comment as well...

In the "Could be Worse" department, at least it's not directed by Uwe Boll.

Why the fuck make it about viruses infecting humans??? WTF what problem did they have with the Doom3 storyline??? I mean shit its already going to be on another planet than earth, did they think movie goers wouldn't enjoy the stretch that theres a gate way to hell opened with monsters coming out?? I really dont get it! Now its like Resident Evil for christs sake.

Casting is dead on, but the story, are you kidding me?I agree. Movie --> video game tie-ins are rubbish, Video game --> movie tie-ins are rubbish, heck, it's all rubbish.
If indeed I had a beard, I would eat it at the first sight of a genuinely great game-inspired movie.

They were afraid of pissing off the Christian right by using the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks word.

Ah, the "Christian right", the boogeymen of internet forums and the bane of western civilization. If it weren't for them Hollywood would never make a bad movie and all the videogame adaptations would be Oscar winners.
Hardly. Plenty of movies with demonic themes or the prominent word "Hell" are released that don't care what the Christian right says. End of Days, Event Horizon, From Hell, Exorcist... don't give the Christian right so much credit, and don't drag your politics into the fact that this is just plain going to be a shitty movie because the directors/producers are simply making shitty decisions.

It's nice to know that no matter what I say, somebody will take me seriously and argue against my point.

Dude, just tell Uwe Boll to make a Star Wars movie, and he'll come up with all that on his own.
I also think that if the movie has the same feel of Aliens and such, I'll consider it a faithful adaptation no matter the change from demons to zombies.

Personally I don't know a single movie where that I liked where 'the rock' played a roll. I mean the man has 'The' for a first name! How much worse could you possibly make it?
The fact that he stars ensures the thing will be crap even putting aside everything else.
The only thing that could save this movie is if they suddenly decided to introduce spiderman into the picture. I mean they can't screw up the story any worse and I think spidy has some good lines he could use against virus created monster hell-like humans.

Only if they put Romero's head on a stick at the end.

on a side note, I did hear there is a lot of "first person camera" work done in this movie. Whether it makes it to the final cut, I guess we'll see.

God this looks turd.
Hollywood are treating game licences with the same way they treat comic hero licences from the 80's and 90's
Give the licence respect and we will watch the movie in cinemas and also buy it when it comes out on DVD :D

I think they want to shy away from the whole "Hell" aspect and try to make it scientific. I don't know why but they did that with Blade as well, making vampirism a viral disease.
Perhaps it is easier to sell to executives since they already have sold their souls to Hell and don't want it getting out.
