IGN (http://www.ign.com) has a little scoop on a new Nintendo DS Pink Pokemon Edition (http://ds.ign.com/articles/620/620263p1.html).
The Pokemon Center in Japan has revealed that it will be releasing a new Mew Pink Nintendo DS system. The unit, featuring a slight pink color and silhouettes of the cute, rare Pokemon creature inside and out, will be released in July for 15,000 yen, the same price as a standard Nintendo DS system.
People will be able to pre-order this new Nintendo DS system starting on June 23rd, but the system won't be launched until July 8th. The system will only be sold at the Pokemon Centers and on the Pokemon Center website in Japan.
No details on the possibility of a North American release of this unit.

Absolutely Thuper!
Nintendo always has had a thing for the pinks and purples. Back in high school, I had to convince myself a dark purple Gameboy Color was not totally gay.

I want, because I like bright colored handhelds for one reason. Harder to lose them.

Greaaat...if Nintendo spent as much time thinking about how to get the most out of their systems instad of picking new colors of molded plastics, we might have something. How about some decent games for the DS, folks?

Wow, you really missed E3 cjrizzo. The only 90% of the interesting games shown were for the DS.

And their DS showing was still pretty weak considering what the system needs. Might import one of these since my girlfriend's been wanting a Pink SP and she was digging the Nintendogs demo they showed.
I officially declare nintendo releasing a new color of anything as not newsworthy.
It's sooo hard and labor intensive to pick a new color for a system. First everyone in all four of Nintendo's R&D teams must stop working and fill out multitudes of polls to pick the new color. Then they all have to gather in a big pep rally where Iwata counts all of the votes by hand in front of them, starting over if he loses count. Then once that's done, they have another poll about the shade of that color they want, and then after that they have a poll about what they want to name the color, and then they have a poll about if they want it to be affiliated with a license. Then if it is affiliated with a license they have to do it all over again if the color doesn't gel well with that particular license. All in all it takes about a month of stopped production to get a new color idea to completion, and then everyone can start working on their games again.

Funny how Nintendo can't do anything without getting shit from people.

Since I often decry Nintendo, I felt it was fair to give them credit when it is due. E3 had a ton of interesting DS and GBA titles. You may have missed it because they were busy talking about Nintendogs.

I like how nintendo is working to lose the kiddy image with the new DS handheld. Nothing says grown up like a pink pokemon color scheme. Bravo, Nintendo.

like releasing yet another money making piece of crap in yet another color?
no, they cant. i believe this is now the eigth, maybe ninth, permutation of pokemon they have foisted onto the unsuspecting public. yeah, i guess it is funny, but then its probably not the funny you were talking about.

What are you talking about? Surely you understand the difference between hardware and software?
Just to make this very clear: This is a variant colored DS, a device for playing games, which comes with two screens, one of which has touch sensitivity. Pokemon is a game, where the player captures innocent creatures and forces them to battle on his behalf, somewhat like Final Fantasy: Cockfighting.

Yes, you're so right. If you've got a hit IP that sells like crack and makes you millions of dollars, you should just stop. God forbid if you spent one whole PR person taking that IP and applying it to picking out a new case colour for one of your hardware units. </sarcasm>

Aww man, that's just a tint, you can't really ridicule someone who has that color.
I was all ready to say Fab-U-Lous, but now I just don't feel it.
