The official Zorro Productions website has revealed information on an upcoming Zorro game which is expected to be released for the Wii. Pronto Games will be the company creating it and have given it the title of The Destiny of Zorro.

Pronto's combination of enthusiasm and expertise has led to an ideal partnership with Zorro Productions, Inc. for development of The Destiny of Zorro. The two companies are located down the road from one another in the San Francisco East Bay. Pronto's game development strategy holds a core belief that video games should be small, fast and fun (SmaFF). These elements almost match the character of Zorro himself, though to his adversaries, Zorro often appears larger than life.” from the official website.

Zorro has typically been under-utilized as a character. He has the potential to be a deep, rich and exciting hero, in the hands of an artist. Imagine Zorro as seen by someone like Frank Miller.

Interesting to see if they can do a better job of sword fighting then Red Steel.

SmaFF?

Sounds like an acronym for some kind of frighteningly specific smurf fetish.

Imagine a Zorro game made with the Assassin's Creed engine. Wonders I tell you.

That's not hard, is it? :) Ah, but a franchise where swordfighting is the focus of the heroes abilities; this could truly rock. Doesn't quite make me all tingly like the thoughts of a Ghostbusters proton accellerator or Jedi sabre, but could be really really fun if done well, since Zorro does so much with the sword. Put all that into a game, make it not suck, and you've got gold.
