Hellgate: London, developed Flagship Studios, is an RPG set in the immersive first-person perspective. With a completely randomised world that offers a unique experience every time you play, Hellgate: London introduces a demon-ridden world where the last survivors of the human race must meld science and magic to survive.

Hellgate: London combines the depth of role-playing games and action of first-person titles, while offering infinite playability with randomly created levels, items, and events. The player creates a heroic character, completes quests, and battles through innumerable hordes of demons to advance through experience levels and branching skill paths. A robust, flexible skill and spell system, highly customizable appearances, and a massive variety of randomly generated equipment allow players to create their own unique hero.Check out 26 new Hellgate: London screens (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=25752) over at WorthPlaying.

this is the first i've heard of this game, and it looks cool. very atmospheric.

nobody's commenting on it tho. did i miss something? is this game gonna suck?

i enjoyed the random generated bits of diablo back in the day, but i don't know if it's enough to carry a game nowadays.

Looks interesting, but I will have to upgrade first. Need more money!

Looks totally awesome to me. But yeah, hasn't been much buzz behind the title as of yet.

I highly recommend checking out the game intro, which is already available:

Gives you a good idea of the atmosphere and setting of the game.

BTW, nice to see another gamer from Portland, Maine.

i am VERY excited for this title, but i seem to remember a budget FPS (shooting vampires and zombies and such) which boasted "randomly generated levels", but that game was a steeming pile of disease infested shit. crossing my fingers...

Yeah, that cinematic is genuine quality! Best I've seen in quite a while.

Randomly generated fps levels scares me....a lot. Also I think the autoaim thing is kinda silly. There's really no way to do diablo combat better on a pc with a mouse and keyboard but in a fps this is the best interface to have. why simplify?

The latest edition of Edge has a rather long article about flagships new game. Anyone interested should definately give it a look there are some interesting snippets in it.

It looks intersting.

I kinda hope that it will allow for 6 or so person groups and a battle.net style setting.

That video was great for it.

Game sounds a bit iffy, with randomly-generated levels and all...

But that video is AWESOME!

I'll have to keep an eye out for this one.

Awesome trailer. Cool atmosphere, chunky akimbo guns, pseudo-knights with big swords, gibbering demon hordes...

Personally I like the idea of randomly generated levels and items, I hope they can pull it off. Add in RPG elements and I am sold. I'm wondering if the game is free-roaming like Morrowind and STALKER, or is the progression more linear?

We need more sci-fi/horror FPS free-roaming RPGS!

I'm really looking forward to this - the potential is awesome. And given their reputation, I'm reasonably confident it will actually deliver...when it's finally released.

It's not really an "FPS" though, don't get confused. It is first person, but it's not an action shooter. You don't need headshot skillz to play, what I gathered from the interviews etc. The weapons will be guided or area of effect etc...

Yep, really can't wait....Hellgate was my fav pick of E3.

Roper and Flagship (ex-Blizzard North) are without a doubt the best in the industry.

Where's the RPG part?

Hellgate London will have inventory (hopefully even a paperdoll), stats and skills. You'll find new armour, guns and other interesting objects.
I've been watching the progress of Flagship even since they have formed and I do hope Hellgate London will be a good game. After all, Blizzard North was a great company and Diablo I and II (despite the fact that I didn't like it), were international hits.

EDIT: Just discovered that the FMV is made by Blur (they also did the Warhammer: Dawn of War trailer, among others). No wonder it was so cool.

*sigh of relief* Wow, an Evil Avatar thread about a game I'm interested in where people aren't tearing it apart.

You'll find that PC games rarely get bashed as bad as Sony/Nintendo/MS threads. Rampant fanboyism exists on the consoles much more so. Probably something to do with 3 different systems, companies, etc. PC gamers are unfettered by that sort of juvenille crap. (hopefully)

Please, please, please, let this have co-op play. Please.I would recommend picking up a copy of the May issue of PCGamer if you have the chance...good read. Anyways, here's a quote from the article:

Hellgate: London will be a single-player game through and through, but it'll support a robust multiplayer game supporting up to 16 or possibly even 32 players. The emphasis will be on cooperative gameplay, although Roper isn't ruling out some form of competitive multiplayer mode.
