I wasn't sure if this was new, so I skipped it yesterday. pc.ign.com has posted a new Prey video (http://media.pc.ign.com/media/008/008926/vids_1.html), showing off Human Head's entire E3 "Behind Closed Doors" presentation.

Well. That looked nice.

Did I see some honest to god Diffrent Ideas inside a FPS game?

Why yes, yes I did.

Looks cool. Not entirely original, but cool all the same.

Portals from Unreal 1? Check
360 degree combat like in SiN's Dm-Paradox? Check
Doom 3 engine? Check

Nothing groundbreaking there at all, but it looks fun.

It should be fun, as I've always enjoyed Human Head's work in the past. Now let's hope they don't make the main character a complete stereotype of a native American.

i think you are forgetting that when this game origonally came in 98 it was quite revolutionary, so geez, lay off of the stealing comments jackhole.

But your arguement's completely INVALID, because it NEVER came out in 1998.

I had many ideas before they came out, but I"m not rich, because I didn't make them... they were just ideas and somebody else is rich because they did soemthing about it!

TIVO? That's me.
IPOD? That's me, too.

Hell, I thought up an AWESOME video game system back in the 80s and the XBox, PS2, etc "could've been" it.

There's nothing new in Prey. Check.
Will I check it out? Check.

While the game never reached production or even gold status, they had the ideas IMPLEMENTED into the game at the time, so fuck off you jerkass.

I tried to post this video yesterday but it seemingly never got through the moderator check or something.

It reminded me of Halflife 1 for some reason.

The first game was supposed to come out around the time half life 1 was being made. It was infact supposed to do things that half life 1 only dreamed about, destroyable worlds, portals, reflections everything.

It also looks fun, and the spirt world stuff, looks diffrent.

Also, I don't quite remember Unreal 1, but I do not remember portals like those, or the areas with physics that change.

It looks diffrent than other games, and THAT is a great thimg.

Might actualy be cool, regained some interest after seeing the movie. Still don't like the doom type spawning of monsters but at least you can see where they came from now so I guess that something new they did with it :P
Seen most of the stuff in other games already but seems like they used it right at least.

If the game hadn't reached production, how did they have these ideas IMPLEMENTED?

They talk shit. It's what they've been doing for over 10 years.

I'm watching the video for a second time. While not necessarily groundbreaking, it does have a lot of elements I enjoy. Vehicles, physics, puzzles, not to mention a fairly nice looking game engine. While it's hard to get a true feel for the story, I'm hopeful they do a good job. If it's simply a FPS with nice trappings, it may not be worth it.

by production you ASSHAT, i mean physical production of the product, and then when i refered to the gold status thing, i meant the game was completed, so fucking learn your terms right or gtfo nubcaeks :D:D:D:D <3

I think you're the one that needs to learn his terms.

Nice use of the newest technologies, proving they are more than just pretty. The physics changing is straight from jedi Knight, on a larger scale. The way the portals are implemented is also quite nice.

The reason it reminded you all of Halflife was the heavy use of pre-scripted sequences, such as the airliner being followed by the UFO, and the narration over the radio instead of directly speaking to the character. Also, the game never cut out of first person mode, and was always controllable even during cut scenes.

I just hope the game features better AI than we saw there. If the person playing the game in the demo can truly survive and win playing as poorly as he was I will mop the floor with it. I suspect he had a few cheats on with the was he was taking damage, but still - I saw multiple fire fights where I felt it was totally unnecessary for the player to have taken a hit.

That video far exceeded my expectations. And the different locations and overall atmosphere is awesome.

wow.. they really made some fantastic effects! I don't like the gun though. Kinda sissy-like, but perhaps it's one of the first.
I also really liked the desert scenes.. man they looked atmospheric.
I hope they don't overdo the use of changing gravity etc. Could get old if you spent 99% of the game turning upside down and watching portals pop out monsters.

Sort of like if Doom 3 would have been 99% about being in pitch black areas having monsters spawn in behind you? :)

I liked what I saw. But I what I CRAVE is a game using this engine (Doom 3) that takes place ON earth, in environments like the bar in the beginning.

Oh well. Now I'll go and watch the Huxley trailer again.

i think it looks amazing, albeit a DOOM 3 mod, but very VERY promising. and how many games force you to brutally KILL cute little girls (possessed of course but still...)???

That looks incredible. It definitely has a bit of a Half-life 1 feel to it, but it looks fairly unique and imaginative... the sound effects were great.

Don't worry Dirty, I'll stop bagging on your game, because you obviously know more about it than I, seeing as you're defending it like somebody that's either worked on the original or working on the current incarnation.

Either way, vid looks interesting enough to track this game.

Yes, you did. I didn't approve it since I'm trying not to approve any more "E3" stuff and I didn't realize that this video had just been released and was not from the show.

Sorry.

The video looks graphically amazing... but I just dont have any desire to play another game wherein I fight 10 foot mutant-demon things that probably fire rockets from robot arms.
