1Up has posted a preview (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3141080) of Lionhead's upcoming "God" game, Black & White 2, taking a fairly bland and generic look at this upcoming title.

For starters, Black & White 2 effectively combines two distinct game genres -- classic God game and real-time strategy (RTS) -- in one package. Which game you play will be a direct reflection of which side you take in the moral conflict of good versus evil. As the benevolent God, you're going to play the classic God game style. Your powers will help build better societies and improve the condition of life to rise to greatness. On the other hand, choose to be a wrathful God and you play a fully functioning RTS -- raising armies, building units and conquering all who stand in your way.I hope they didn't pay someone to write that article, I've read more information about the game in the magazine advertisements.

let's hope that this game isn't as frustrating because of failed game mechanics.

From the E3 2005 Demonstration video I saw it looks like it's shaping up alright, but with a game like that you can't really tell until you can sit down with it yourself.

Don't worry. Didn't you hear, Will Wright is making one.

The original B&W was a mystery: every single magazine gave it great scores yet it entered history as one of the buggiest games ever. In fact, hardly anyone plays it and less people speak fondly of it.
After B&W and Fable, I wonder what to expect from Lionhead. Only time will tell.

Sorry to hear the piece didn't do it for you EA. It was interesting having Molyneux demo the game. We will be revisiting it down the line. Cheers for the link though.

I don't trust Molyneux to make a good game anymore... then there is the fact that Black & White sucked, a lot. I don't see how this game -could- be good. He just needs to trot off and make Dungeon Keeper III, and then leave the business... <.<

What's with all the Molyneux-hating? One game that wasn't perfect and suddenly half the gaming community is treating him like he was Jon Romero or something. :D

Black & White had a lot going for it. What killed it was crappy level design. Five worlds, one of which is a tutorial and one takes the best bit of the game away from you. It was still original, interesting and fun to play (apart from world 3.) I really hope that B&W2 fixes the few problems of the original as there are two few instances of ambitious-yet-flawed games being picked up and fixed. Too many great design ideas get lost because no-one is willing to take the good bits out of bad games and make them work.

There was Black and White, which went from the best game ever made to the worst ten hours in. There was Fable, which was a decent little RPG that had zero of the promised features. That would be two not-so perfect titles.

All im hearing from previews and press releases is how great the graphics are. That sends a red flag to me. Peter is like obsessed with showing blades of grass and little clay pots. Oh wow thats so great, it will add another level to black and whites game play. That sends up a red flag to me. Ill wait a couple months before i buy this game, until i see some real reviews from gamers.

I didn't think he had that much involvement in Fable. I got the impression that it was a case of attaching the name to get interest. I'll still take ambitious and flawed over competent and run-of-the-mill any day.
