Fighting the internet rumor mill, I contacted some of my sources inside the gaming giant that is Electronic Arts, and they have confirmed for me that Electronic Arts is not planning a round of layoffs today - or any day in the future.

My sources say that Electronic Arts is not laying people off, they are hiring like madmen and that while they are expanding a studio in Florida, there is no plans to close up their California operations and move them to the deep south.

These are not the droids you are looking for. Move along.

This whole thing sounded a bit crazy, EA is making more money than they know what to do with at the moment -- they aren't in a position where laying people off would help them in any way.

Two different people I know got hired at their Cali office, so I don't imagine they are now just going to close it down.

Dammit! Guess all the Electronic Arts haters (myself included) will have to find something else to get all indignant about.

I'm happy for the people rumored to be involved that they will not be faced with imminent unemployment.

We can be indignant about their insatiable desire to slave drive more and more employees! Damn you, EA, damn you I say!

Good god, it's like EA's saying: "Good news people, no head slashing today!"

That's good news?

Aren't they doing a ton of X360 games and didn't they themselves say that next generation games are going to take more and more people?!

So, why would they fire people, if they're doing a ton of next generation games????

It seems Evil is saying he went out of his way to find out if there were going to be job cuts. And there aren't. Obviously I missed earlier stories about this (I hate getting off of work at midnight, but it's such a comfy/lazy shift,) but it's not EA touting that employees are "lucky to have jobs" and the likes.

Was expecting you to say that you've decided against killing off Bapenguin and everlost.
