GameTrailers is now showing off a preview video of Pokémon Battle Revolution (http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=16502&type=wmv&pl=game ), the first Wii game that includes online gameplay and DS wireless support. It looks like a graphically-impressive means of battling from your Diamond/Pearl online instead of a standalone game. Good for tournaments, not so much for single-player. Anti-aliasing and lighting effects make this a nice-looking title. Character animation and camera motion is much improved over the previous console Pokémon titles.
I doubt this will make any converts out of Poké-skeptics, but if you gotta catch 'em all, then this looks like a great way to battle them.

Never really got into any of the Pokemon stuff, but the title is interesting to me. Did the Revolution suffix carry over from when the Wii was still being called the Revolution?

This game actually looks pretty terrible, even for what it is.
Apparently you can's customize your charachter to look anything like you, or use Miis or anything. It seems to basically be like an accessory that just allows you to see your pokemon in 3D.

Um, that's the least of what this game's about. And I hope you have a better reason than lack of character customization for thinking this game is terrible.

I can't see picking this up for the online battles, when Diamond/Pearl should scratch that itch nicely.

According to the video review, friend codes are back. It said, specifically, that even if you exchanged Wii Numbers, you'll need to exchange unique friend codes for the game.
How I wish Nintendo just aped Xbox Live.

Could the inclusion of unique friend codes for this game have anything to do with the DS interaction? Maybe, just maybe, other online Wii games won't require you to trade yet more friend codes.
But I don't know that I'm going to hold out hope for that.

It was confirmed long ago that this instance of the whole friends code thing was specific solely for this game. Nintendo will not require you to do that with other games.

The use of extra friend codes in this title is directly related to the DS linking. For the DS, Nintendo decided to go with a friend code per game. If they didn't require that friend code to be entered in when invoking the DS link capability, it would completley destroy the security benefits of the friend code system.

Sure was annoying how the guy in the video kept pronouncing it "pokee mon".

I thought the same thing. Apparently they think the accent over the "e" is just for show.

When is this supposed to come out? Diamond/Pearl come out in April, I think. Is it released at the same time or sometime afterwards?

They played it on Gamespot's On The Spot and everyone was just kind of like "err... do we really want to keep watching this? No? No. Okay. Let's move on."
It looked absolutely boring, and every question the audience asked was like "is xxx potentially cool feature going to be in the game?" ANd the answer was always "no."
