Developed by Strangelite Studio, the game is based on the Starship Troopers movie in which you will take the role of an elite 'special forces' trooper in the Mobile Infantry spearheading the assault against thousands of intelligent enemy bugs, emulating the best scenes from the movie and a whole lot more!
Finally some new Starship Troopers screens and trailer (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=25679) showing a different environment, check it out over at WorthPlaying.

Make that two. We should start a support group.

Ah, what the hell, count me in too.
We are absolutely gonna go on some sort of take over the world binge. I think we need eight people for that sort of thing.

I liked the movie just fine, and the book. They're not the same story at all, so I don't see a conflict there. Now, anybody like the CG animated series? That was some good watchin!

Personally after looking at that trailer I'm convinced that they made a game with sub par graphics, realized this and tried to cover it up with an updated human model and covered everything (including your gun it would seem) with bump maps. I suppose its better then it would otherwise be but the terrain looked pretty basic and boring to me.
But then again I tend not to like straight up FPS which this game seems to be styling itself after.

Personally I wanted the redhead from the movie. Man was she hot in that shower sce....uh, I meant I hope the game will be good and stuff. Yeah. Go starship troopers.

I liked the movie too. I've maintained from the start that Starship Troopers the movie is a better movie than a truer translation of the book could have been. The book was awesome, of course, but just wasn't geared with a movie in mind at all.

I can't believe I'm seeing this many people with a rational opinion of both the movie and the book.
and I can't believe I'm seeing it on EA :o
The animated series wasn't bad either, personally I thought it was an ideal bridge between the novel and the movie.
I wonder if they'll ever make a "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" movie in the same vein as the SST movie? >:E

Hell I looooove the movie. I freaking love the book. I love the CG show. And a part of me loves the sequel. I loved the Hasbro RTS. And I will love this too.
Starship troopers is hawt.

I like the movie, love the tv series, glanced at the book.
For a truly SST experience, play the alien swarm mod.
I liked the movie as well, haven't read the book, but might have to pick it up it seems.

I loved the book, loved the style and feel of the movie. I hated the second one, it seemed like they dcide3d to do a horror movie instead of a sci-fi action flick.
either way.
everything has that "every level is the same feeling" that dropped my hopes. I'll look into this game more, but it seems like the effort should be put in different situations other then different environments.

I loved the movie for some reason, it's one of my favorite popcorn flicks made. I also have the book and heck, even that animated CG series Roughnecks was pretty dang good. The "second movie" was an abomination that sadly shared the same name.
I still have my doubts however, that a good game will ever be made.
(Though the RTS-ish one wasn't that bad.)

By the way, if you haven't seen it... Starship Troopers fans should check out the old Sci-fi series Space: Above and Beyond. Canceled after the first season, but it's dang, dang good and feels very similar to me. I loved it back in the day, and I loved it when I rewatched it not too long ago.

Looking at it being played in the E3 expo hall, I was impressed. It was very nice on the eyes and the bugs moved and looked almost identical to the film's. This is on my 'must buy' list.

I'm surprised noone has made a game based on the tech in the book yet. It's practically designed for a squad-based shooter: 3 variants of superman-building-jumping-badass-2-ton powered armor with a variety of weapons described (perfect for multiplayer and partially ripped off by Tribes), they could have the terror mission they pulled on the skinnies as the first level (complete with the "thirty second bomb"), and so on. It'd be great.

I love both the movie and the book. The book being more cerebral and the movie just being a great guy-flick with all the guns and titties.
I would love to see a movie or game based on the tech from the book though. Dear God that man was way ahead of his time.

Verhoeven lost it after total recall, anyone who liked his older films is obligated to despise startship troopers.

If you haven't, you might check out the animated CG series Roughnecks. It's somewhere between the book and the movie, and has more of the tech of the books, as well as some of the best characters.

omg, we rented that straight to video turd. what was that about... such low production values and SUCH poor acting. sort of spoiled the movie a bit for me (which i also loved, by the way... got the DVD somewhere).

There is also a miniatures game being made by Mongoose, as well as a P&P RPG. These are both based on the movie.

Starship Troopers is a work of fucking art. If anything Verhoeven redeemed himself with it. Aliens + 90210 + 80s Gore = awesome.

Agreed with the general consensus of the 2nd movie... utter junk made on the cheap to cash-in, IMO. Too bad.
Also, yeah, Roughnecks was very cool, though to date I've still only seen a handful of 'em.

Starship Troopers 2 seemed like too much of a TV movie to me. I did think it was interesting that they cast the Captain of the ship that Denise Richards was assigned to in the original movie to play one of the main characters in the sequel.
"Space: Above And Beyond" was probably one of the best sci-fi shows to hit TV, I loved it. But of course, Fox has a hard-on for cancelling good shows so it didn't last beyond the first season, which is a real shame. That's why I don't watch Fox anymore; I hate getting caught up in a show only to see them cancel it.

bacause of the poor ratings, the good series are being cancelled.... (and "The Simple life" is going for a fourth season???.. come on!)
I loved the movie.... because it didn't intended to be more than it was a very entertaining movie..... off and the effects were top notch!

I thought the movie was great. It had a nice depiction of what the next fascist society will look like here on earth.

I hate to break this to you guys, but Starship Troopers is actually a good movie. Paul Verhoven's references to Leni Riefenstalh's Triumph of the Will are undeniable. I think Verhoven should be required to make a blood and guts sci-fi movie every 5 years.

Yeah, anyways, The movie was shit but was fun to watch. The PC game of many years ago was awesome but nobody played it. This new game looks like shit and will probably play like shit too.

Yeah, anyways, the movie was an awesome deconstruction of modern myth and the ability of modern (future?) fascism to pacify the population through spectacle and media.
Verhoeven at his best.

I've found that there's two levels of people who like Starship Troopers. The kind who like to see shit explode, and the kind who saw the underlying social commentary (and I guess the middle ground, like me :D). It's a not a big deal you didn't get it, no need to call names.
Also, I'll be the 300th person to point out that the book was amazing.

There was no real social commentary in starship troopers.
And as has been stated many times, the movie was nothing like the book.

Weird, I really liked the movie (I'm sure If I'd read the books I'd have hated it though)
And..you liked the starship troopers game?...wait...the squad based one? That game is at the top of my worst games of all time list. It was a horrible game!!
It was ugly, had crap ai (once I told one of my guys to fire a nuke at a big bug dropship sorta thing, so he ran right up to it, stuck the end of the barrel on the bigship and then pulled the trigger *claps*)
My guys got stuck on things, You couldnt save in game
To get new armour for your guys they would need enough xp, which they could only get from doing missions, If they died they'd be replaced by new soliders with low rank and no amour. So if you got halfway through the game and lost a few of your men, well you'd be screwed because your guys would be to weak to do the level and you'd have to start the game over.
The missions were ridiculous, In one mission you have to go into a base and get data from a computer. But instead of dropping you off at the base, they drop you quite a distance from it, And outside its big force field. So you need to turn the power for it off. But wait, they dont drop you off near the powerstation, they drop you off miles away from it, and not only that but they drop you in a crater full of giant invisible praying mantis!!
Uh oh..I'm ranting

Aversion, I dont know what to tell you. I've heard similar complaints from others, but I never had a problem moving my guys or them doing the smartest thing possible (moving away from incoming bugs ON THEIR OWN while laying covering fire!!!) and I almost finished the game. Most people gave up so early they never got to see the power armor or high-level weapons.
I don't know about letting squaddies die, but I remember you could rez them easily and they would just be unavailable for the next mission. You had to go collect their DNA or something so you could "rez" them...

I finished it :D
The final suit of armor you get is power armor with 2 miniguns. It was cool, but perhaps a tad to powerfull, A very difficult and frustrating game suddenly became very easy. I suppose it was more fun though.
It was cool to see them move back from the bugs while fireing.
I was unaware you could rez your men. I remember you could collect there dog tags or something. But I didnt know what do to with them. Dang, heh, I was about half way through the game when I restarted aswell :P
Despite its cool moments I still found the game very boring, repetitive, and incredibly frustrating. Mostly due to the fact I couldnt save during a mission, I'd get right up to the end and then something would happen and everyone would die.
Still, if you enjoyed it then you should go back and play it again since I found it most fun at the end...with the powerarmour :)

Did no one else think the movie was amazing satire?
Also, what system was the game for?
