It turns out that even a Sith Lord is no match (http://www.boardsmag.com/screeningroom/commercials/1659/) for a hollywood producer.

Awesome commercial.

It's funnier than the Diet Pepsi commercial where Yoda gets pwned by some dude in a restaurant who just really wants his Diet Pepsi.

I hate commercials. :D

Funny and sad at the same time.

George is a WHORE and an IDIOT.

He's killed off all of the cool characters in uneventful ways; Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Darth Maul.

And now, he's taking characters that have a certain mystique and presence and turning them into laughable corporate bitches; Darth Vader?!?, Yoda, Chewbacca.

Give up the wheel George, it's time for you to sit down. Let Genndy Tartakovsky and his band of obviously-talented storytellers (Clone Wars), take over!

Give ol' Georgie boy a break! This is the last Star Wars movie, he's got to pimp everyone and squeeze out every last drop of profit from his franchise.

Video doesn't work for me.

ps. I bet every single one of the people on these forums would love to have George's bank account and clout.

Don't you mean the last Star Wars movie before the previously announced Television Series and the previously announced Episode 7 - 9?

Whoa, that's probably one of the worst commercials I've seen in a long time. :(

Should have been the other way around, Vader doesn't seem to be the whoring himself out type.

And if any of us had George's power and money, we'd buy ourselves a new rig then go out and save Star Wars.

That was teh funny.

epIII was a damn fine Star Wars movie, people, so let's all get off the Bash Lucas Bandwagon, please. I may not have liked what he did with TPM, but I thought AotC was a good improvement, and now RotS brought everything full circle.

Besides, whether you liked what he did with the prequels or not, his time is over. Bring on the new season of Clone Wars and the live action TV series.

I don't know about the series.... I allways thought that the star wars history was made for the big screen.. no for tonned down tv plots...

I thought that was hilarious. "Join forces with you? Never!"

The one I hate is where Vader and the Burger "King" face off and breathe through their masks. You know Vader would have sliced him in half or at least given him some of the old "chokey choke".

Just about any idea can be made good with the right people behind it. Put Joss Whedon on that TV show and I think it would literally turn to gold. They have to recolorize it before broadcast.

I actually like that one commercial where Vader tries to convince the one guy that he's related to him so he can get the money the guy just won, then at the end when the guy closes the door on Vader he yells "BRANDON WAIT!" Hi-larious.

I like all the new ads. Frankly, after Episode 1 I lost all my sense of reverence for the franchise. The Darth Vader vs Burger King is hilarious.

Joss is better than a Star Wars TV show is capable of in today's TV world. Especially when Fox gives up Firefly for crap like "The OC". It might have a home on the Sci-Fi channel if that channel didn't have a track record of cancelling excellent science fiction (Babylon 5, Farscape). But in the end, unless it ends up on Showtime or HBO, it would be cancelled because science fiction is a genre with a small audience when compared to ratings giants like American Idol (I'm getting ill just typing it) have. Sad but true. Let's face it. Ratings are what drive TV (mainstream broadcasting channels, that is [Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC]).

I think the Star Wars brand still has enough clout to draw the ratings sufficient to compete with The OC or whatever tripe is still on. Still, I get what you're saying and can only hope that Joss does another TV show.

I'm watching the Firefly DVDs again this week. For every episode that gets closer to the end, a small piece of my soul dies. Can't wait for the movie to come out...

I'm sure it does but I think it would do more harm to the brand name than good. Perhaps if you put the person in charge of the Clone Wars animated series in charge of it, I think then it would be successful enough for at least a few seasons.

I'm hoping Whedon has something in mind for the TV future as well. Perhaps they could combine the two universes (Buffy and Angel). Something more ensemble cast rather than Buffy-centric or Angel-centric. Something with Gunn and Giles, for example.

Either way, I think this has veered off topic. Perhaps the mods can break this into a new thread.

Scifi had to cancel some of the shows because of they wasted more money than they made. Farscape was sadly one of them.

They really do need to be on one of those subscription based cable channels so they can really shine and not be cancelled after one or two seasons.

I just hope the star wars tv series isn't turned into Smallville. I hate Smallville.

i too lost all fanboyism when i saw episode 1 so i don't really care what happens.

but the burger king ads are just lame. it seems like the latest 'big thing' is to try to add humor through irrelevance in ads and it's just retarded now.

Firefly was stupid. Cowboys in space can only work if you keep the milieu consistant. These guys have space-travel technology but only revolvers for guns? Please. Could have worked if it was done with more care, but Joss is a character-writer (a damn good one) and he often plays fast and loose with the details of his world(s).

I'm sorry, maybe you missed all of the Star Wars specials in the 70s and 80s. Go look at the old footage. These characters lost their dignity a long, long time ago.

What about the M&M advertisement? I liked that one. Maybe it's been mentioned but when yellow (do they have names?) says "We'll start Monday" I almost wet my pants. But then again, I have a rather shallow sense of humour sometimes.

I'm always up for a good non-sequitur... but the Burger King ads are just creepy. If I woke up with that guy smiling at me, the King would find himself smashed with a bat. Then I'd eat that egg sandwich he was holding.

God, what the hell do you like? I'd like to know. You are so fricken' contrarian, it's icky. ;)

If I remember right, there was an episode in Firefly where they explained (via a joke) why the Serenity crew used guns and not "lasers"...and I believe that the Alliance (or whatever) did use lasers.

Episode 3 was a good finisher. Star Wars should now be over. (how can they do this on TV???) Star Trek is over. It's time to find the next kid with a good Sci-Fi space opera idea and run with that.

I'm not a Firefly fan, but at least it's new.

If what you say is true,Joss is a good fit for Star Wars. Lucas is very good with fleshing out the details of his worlds, but he needs help with the writing.

This was on in the cinema right before episode 3 for me.

A Star Wars TV series could be amazing, just as an Aliens, Predator, Terminator, Star Trek, or any number of franchise series could be. So long as the writers remember one thing: You do not and should not rely on canon characters for EVERY damn encarnation of that franchise. Aliens is a prime example as there have been many graphic novels created that blow Alien 3 and Resurrection way out of the water because they do not feel the need to put Sigourney Weaver in their story. The universe is too full of potential to keep leaching the integrity out of a character(s) beyond their time. Does he need to make episode 7-9? Not really, why doesnt he create some new story arcs about some other characters and make movies around them. Hell, Rogue Squadron would make a hell of an "action/jet" movie. Or even make a film revolving around a character attempting to make it as a Teras Kasai fighter. Just be creative. Do we need to see the same characters doing the same damn things? A great example is KOTOR for the XBOX/PC, which has a really neat story that doesnt need characters from the already done hexology. That would have been a great film.

Episode 3 did what it was suppose to. It tied up the loose ends and bridged the gap between the two trilogy's. I thought it was excellent, save for a few awkward "love" scenes and one terrible "noooooooooo". Other than that it was great. Man, people just dawg it to dawg it now. I agreed when people complained that TPM was too short on fun and long on boring dialogue. I agreed when people said Anakin was too whiny in AOTC. This in my mind helped make up for the parts I didn't like in the first two films which lets face it, were just there to build up to ROTS. As far as Lucas being a whore ... is this news ? He single-handedly created movie merchandise/image/character whoring with the first Star Wars. I still think I have my R2D2 toy chest. It still rocks !

The Brandon commercial is great, I love it

I am a huge star wars fan, I love it, but some people are overly protective of what isn't theres. Lucas can do what he wants with his stuff. Yes, I feel he doesn't always do the best thing with it, but, its his.

For the out-of-UK readers who may not have seen these commercials: Orange have a long running string of these in which they destroy movies with ideas of mobile phones. For example, suggesting that Lord of the Rings was followed by Lord of the Ringtones. The adverts end in cinemas with "Don't let a mobile phone ruin your movie, switch it off". So there's all morals and that.

Don't think anyone's actually explained that yet, apologies if I've missed it.
