Looks as if the devs are cracking down on the Guild Wars Casinos. If you are running one of these, looks like you may lose your account.

http://www.guildwars.com/

Due to the proliferation of casinos and their potential for player abuse, we will be blocking the accounts of those who advertise or operate casinos or other gambling schemes within the game, effective immediately. Players should be aware that casinos are a breach of the Rules of Conduct, as is the advertisement or promotion of cheats, hacks, of exploits. None of these things will be accepted within Guild Wars.

Why is it the moment these things go online they get player run casinos?

W00t! :) This is a great move made by the devs :) I'm glad to hear it, nothing was more gay or annoying than "ROLL A 100 sided die and get 60 to make double your money" BULLSHIT. Its great never to have to put up with that trash anymore :) .

If there is that much demand for it, they should consider building it into the game. Set up the games so that they are fair and random and that when the dealer loses the money is taken right out of his characters account.

Trust me, after a little while it will slow way down.

Cracking down on player-made content is not a good way to run a game.

Thats just it guys, it wasn't player made content. It was people constantly spamming that same casino thing over and over in every major town, in the regular channel.

The main problem that was SO horrible was that ignore wouldn't work for some reason. I'd ge tthier names right in ignore... but they'd still show up talking with the same spam. It wasn't player made content though, Player made content could have kept it to the trade channels instead of filling general chat

Nobody buying Guild Wars at retail would think "great some a casino fantasy MMO", so I can't say I have anything against this, although I didn't even know this was going on.

Honestly I would have had nothing against them setting up a casino, but in several instances of Lion's arch or even ascalon, it was constant repeats of the same "Roll 1d100 and you could win double your money!" over and over so it filled my chat bar until I had to turn off Local, but these same guys would be doing Local and trade often.

Lekon, I love the irony what your info says where you're located...especially in regards to this topic. ;)

But, yes, it was in local and trade too much. They had to have been using scripts of some kind.

Iam sooo glad good god the "casinos" were nothing but rapid spam of the all chat. To anyone out there that ran one I hope you enjoy having to buy another copy of the game. :D

Well I did say I have nothing against them setting up casinos. I live around 'em all the time.

Circus Circus for example is gaudy and bright, pink and pink.
However Circus Circus does not have people standing outside with megaphones hooked up to Stadium magnitude speakers shouting "Get in here and Gamble now!"

For me, it wasn't the casino that was so bad, it was the nature of the beast. :p

they should just add a gambling npc or something that you could just stick money in and roll

it'd certainly drain money from the economy faster, which is necessary for these sort of things

lol, remindes me of the casino ban in wow. I really don't think there is room for that in any MMO.

"Lekon, I love the irony what your info says where you're located...especially in regards to this topic. "

uh, that isn't irony, it's fitting. See irony is when the OPPOSITE of what is expected to happen, happens. So if someone is involved in gambling, and lives in Las Vegas, that isn't very ironic, is it?
