Dystopia Version 1 is nearing completion. The team is putting the finishing touches on our full release and our wonderful supporters and testers are putting our release candidate builds through through their paces. If you want to help out, click here to find out how to become a supporter.
The best way to get a complete wrap up of what to expect from V1 is to listen to the interview which Lez from the Dystopia Mainframe conducted with Teddy, Team Dystopia's lead coder. You can grab it as either a 30meg ogg file or a 95meg mp3 file.

It's a really nice HL2 mod that I've been following and playing for a few months now. If you're even a bit interested in playing a good HL2 mod, download this.

I've been following this too...
never played it mind you, but it's on your Steam menu too: or at least a link to the website.

It wasn't worth a damn last time I tried it, then again that was like a year ago almost, I guess its somewhat worthwhile now?

Very much so. Currently, it has a small, but dedicated community. Hopefully, when V1 comes out more people will play.

You want a fun mod? download Pirates Vikings and Knights II.
I tried some old beta of dystopia and it was a complex mod, not much fun.
Here is hoping that final release rocks :D

Actually I play PVKII frequently. Can't wait for the new classes.

Dystopia is complex and we have always known it wasn't going to be everyone's cup of tea.
We made it for people who are looking for some over the top cyberpunk action, with the depth required to make it great for competitive games.
Any chance you guys that are ragging on it send me a PM here with some constructive feedback on exactly what you don't like about it? Please let me know what FPS games you are into, I always find that this information helps me get an idea of where you're coming from.

I really like Dystopia. It has a really well thought out cyberpunk setting and plenty of depth to the gameplay choices you can make.
I am always dying for some Cyberpunk, in any form, and this is shaping up to be some really well done and over the top cyberpunk action. Katanas, cerebral charges, cowboys, heavily outfitted mercs, walking into a room just to have all the doors shut and a turret turn its attention to you, because somewhere there is a cowboy watching you. If you like cyberpunk, there are very few places where you can get a more Gibson or Stephenson 'esque experience.
Either way, I really appreciate what the team is doing here and hope that with the first real release the user base gets much better. Kudos Fuzzwah, and keep up the good work.

This is one of the reasons I like EvAv so much. It's getting to be pretty common for devs related to a project to post in the news item about their game. It's just nice to know all the game devs haven't turned into rockstars.

Yeah, I like it a lot too. I also like how after a dev posts, all the people that were saying really mean things slither back under the rocks they came from. ;)

I know that gamers are very opinionated, I know because I am too. The negative comments don't really phase me any more. Hell, I rag on Counter-Strike and WoW... I have to expect people to do it to Dystopia too.
What frustrates me is not getting any reasoning behind it. Most of the time when we do get constructive crits we find they fall into two groups; people who are after a completely different gaming experience to what our design goal was, or people who like the game over all but have issues with some small parts of it.
Its this second type of crit that I'm very interested in, as often these little things need fresh eyes to spot. I've played Dys for over 3 years now, so its hard for me to get this perspective. Often when these issues are pointed out we can take steps to work out solutions.

You know what is great about complex mods? to have some class or some sort of, hey! jump in, pick the gun, go and blow some stuff.
Just like Natural Selection, they said, you are new to this? Pick marines, and blow aliens, later you can read the manual and play as alien..
I think the relase I played was not ready for mass consumption, I barely remember a lot of lights, lots of closed doors no one can open, some enemies running fast as hell.. , Im waiting for final release and then if you are into some constructive feedback I can PM you no problem. :)

One of the best mods you will ever play.

It was a great over all mod but I thought the rifle for the medium unit was way overpowered.

Um...you can already do that.
