Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com) reports that the demo for Battlestations: Midway (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6164257.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6164257) will be available on Xbox Live on Thursday. Gamespot will start off the festivities with a live interview with the developers of the game as well as including a sneak peek.
The demo concentrates on the multiplayer portion of the World War II vehicular-combat game. There will be one multiplayer map--Island of Solomon--which pits the American forces versus the Japanese forces. In order to win, gamers must wipe out the opposition's naval base, air base, and aircraft carrier.

This game looks like batallion wars set in WWII, I'm going to at least give this game a rent if the demo is decent.

If only they could do something else... I don't know what it is about it either... I'd much rather play the new After Burner or a new Top Gun.

Why always the WWII hate?
Yeah, it's been done - but really not a whole lot of coverage of the pacific.. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I don't hate the WWII setting yet.
Maybe it's because I've studied the war so much, but it just seems so ripe with material to cover in games - then again they usually do the same shit over and over (war in europe).

It's not your average WW2 game. It's kind of like Carrier Command if you have played that back in the old days.

Seriously, why do I always have to trip up AT-ATs on Hoth? Err.. Same idea, though. Star Wars and WW2 both have great potential. But instead developers retread the same material over and over.

We will keep getting the European front until it becomes easier to do Jungles and flamethrowers. At least that is what I think the reason, the Pacific front is more technically demanding than the European front.

Are there really that many Star Wars games that have you tripping AT-ATs? I don't think there are even half a dozen, on the other hand there's at least 12 WWII games released each year.

I cant wait for this game. I d/led the walk through video on XBL and fell in love with it.
But why the hate on WWII? They use it because it was a very balanced war on both sides really. When it comes down to the tanks and ships and planes it was a good balance. Cant really do that for any other war without making shit up and it sure as hell beats modern jet combat and tomahawk missiles from 100 miles away.

Eh, probably not as many as there are WWII games, no. But my point was that there's lot more to the Star Wars universe than the movies much like there's a lot more to WWII than the European campaign. There's a ton of different things you can do with either, but both genres seem to forget that. Less so with Star Wars, but still..

Here are the demo details:

Sounds like a good demo map. Allies get 2 aircraft carriers and 2 shipyards. The Japanese get 2 shipyards and 2 airfields.

But why the hate on WWII? They use it because it was a very balanced war on both sides really. Unlike, say ... The Cold War. A source of hundreds of plausible scenarios left untapped. At the very least you wouldn't be caricaturising this planet's most devastating conflict. Fulda Gap, I say!

meh, but I dont find games that much fun with jets (unless it is strickly a jet sim). With a game like this, WWII is basically the only good option. But the Cold War would be good for other games.

I will be on it all weekend. This is my most aniticipated title for the 360!!! I am very eager to play a "real-time Risk" online with other people. I cannot wait!! This game and Worms...I'll be taking a break from the bars for quite awhile...which is good. My liver could use the break.

They're making a new one? I better procure a copy of the old one as it sounds awesome.

I couldn't figure out the demo for Midway. That's the first time that has ever happened. The game has such an unintuitive interface that it astounds me.
