Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05/24/news_6126417.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6126417) brings word that the Halo 2 Map pack scheduled for June 28th has been pushed back to July 5th. No word on what caused the delay.

The maps themselves are done, so we're now in the land of retail shipping, matchmaking tuning and so on. Sorry to keep dragging it out. The reason the retail pack slipped was that we found a problem during the final test pass (which is what the final test pass is for, so I suppose it worked).

From Bungie's Weekly What's Update (http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=weeklymay20&p=3410674).

It's nice that Bungie is giving the option of either downloading the maps or buying them in the store. I'm still not a fan of paying for premium content on Live though, mainly because there's no way to back up the files you've paid for and I've had several friends who's Xbox hard drive bit the big one. So I guess I'll be buying the retail pack.

Your payment is stored on the Live servers. You can download the maps for free on a new xbox with your gamertag in case your hd crashed ;)

Wow, I didn't know that. Well that makes me feel a lot better.

I remember reading that it's on a per Xbox basis, not dependent on your gamertag. Why would Bungie let one person who purchased the maps download them to a friend's Xbox for free using the first person's account??

Good thing the next-gen HDs are detachable, as I doubt the systems will be much more reliable.
