Could it be? A new video game based on the Ivan Reitman classic, Ghostbusters?

Whether these are real or fake is unclear, but we've contacted Zootfly for further clarification on the project, and will keep you updated if we hear anything new.


Came across this earlier tonight. I know it might be all a fake, but the videos and Promo Pic (http://www.destructoid.com/elephant//ul/2243-noscale-ghostbustersthegame.jpg) certainly look high-quality enough to be real. 3-D Bill Murray looks awesome.

Wow, that gun is amazing... I haven't seen any use of traps yet though after shooting them, which really ought to be a mechanic. Classic Ghostbusters, ya know? Shoot -- Trap.

If it is a play on Ghostbusters, there were a lot of things wrong with that... The proton packs didn't sound right, the logo wasn't the actual logo, it wasn't the right car, the game mechanics were basically a point and click FPS, and the voice synch was off.

Real or not, this game stands to dissapoint a lot of Ghostbuster fans and hopefuls.

I'm pretty sure that that promo pic is just some art from one of the many Aliens projects with Bill Murray's face and a Chrysler added in. The way they're holding the guns looks way too much like Aliens, the helmets look alike, the over-the-shoulder spot ... I would say this is pretty well busted.

yeah, the whole General Raam, kind of kills this rumor... but it does reiterate that this is test footage. Because the car in the game does look like the 300. I'd like to see a Ghostbusters game. There'd be 4 player co-op madness and Slimmer as an unlockable character :D

I saw Murray recently on one of the Entertainment channels and they asked him about upcoming projects and he said they were getting ready for Pre production on GB 3 with Ben Stiller. Ramis secured the rights to do it back in 05 http://www.hollywood.com/news/detail/id/3467374 So maybe a game isn't that far fetched?

I've always thought that Ghostbusters would translate extremely well to a videogame. I would make a tactical shooter in the vein of Rainbow Six, but mix in the classic Ghostbusters gadgets (traps, PKE meter, etc.). Even if this game never comes to be, hopefully enough interest is stirred up that someone takes a legitimate look at making a GB game.

My problem with a Ghostbusters game would be the fact that they're NOT action heroes. The whole point of the movie was that they were analagous to something like plumbers or exterminators. It was like a blue collar job, except they faught ghosts which made it cool. On top of that, they weren't cool people, they were all mistfit types who were generally nerds and geeks.

I think a ghostbusters game would work and work well, but only if they remembered that gravel voiced action heroes aren't nearly as cool as game developers seem to think they are.

In other news, I dreamed up a great Ghostbusters sequel that took place during the Y2K nonsense and wound up releasing all the ghosts in containment due to the Y2K glitch.

A few things are instant buy for me: zombies and ghostbusters. I really hope this turns out to be real. Furthermore, I hope it comes to 360.

I was a big fan of Ghostbusters for the Sega Genesis. The version of the game for the master system was poo though.

I loved the C64 version of Ghostbusters. I spent WAAAAY too much time at my friend's house playing it when I was a kid. Granted, I also was a huge fan of the first movie and the Real Ghostbusters cartoon. That Extreme Ghostbusters cartoon was a travesty though.

You know what? After playing Elebits for the last few days, I could totally see a Ghostbuster game working on the Wii. Hell, Elebits basically has you shooting a 'stream' and 'capturing' items around the house. Change the paint, add a decent storyline with good voiceacting and voila! Awesome game!

Oh man... That would rock 38 kinds of awesomeness. That's probably one of the first post GB2 ideas that I've heard that sounds plausible and cool.

yes! I want this game for the wii, ah... to be shouting "don't cross the streams!" in your living room (with good reason)
and trapping mechanics... maybe a hold of the c button and swing the nunchuck to release?

of course, any good looking, faithful GB game would be welcome in my eyes :) (except on ps3, i am not likely to get one of those)


edit: to the mutant car, looks right hand drive, so Japanese or British I would guess, and the scenery would indicate Britain.

I gotta say it looks fake. the model for Murray is too sloppy and the sound is ripped from the movie.. (in the trailer I've seen) I doubt a trailer would have someone saying "shit" in it. I'd love to see a Wii-Ghostbuster's game so long as it didn't suck.
Plus you'd have to get the likeness and voice licenced for the game, and thats hard to do. my money is on fake, a good looking fake, but one none the less.
