Yikes, hope everything is ok EA. May you be well for a long time (I think I would go insane without my daily dose of EA.com).
In regards to Revenge of the Sith I'll start the flame: It was much better than the first two movies, but it still felt like I was being skull raped. Dialog was horrible. The light saber fights were boring (with the exception of Yoda). The space battles were average at best due to annoying dialog interrupts every 30 seconds.

I'm seeing it tonight :D
Can't wait cos i liked the first 2 movies especially AOTC.ROTS is supposed to be far superior.
In the UK i just heard 2 people was sent to hospital with burns. The people received their wounds because they was filming themselves with home made lightsabers in a field. The lightsabers were made by using glass tubes, pouring petrol into them and lighting them :D
Complete tards.

Oops looks like its a bit more serious...

Sorry to hear that, Evil. I hope all is well.
I enjoyed Episode 3, though I agree with kokyunage - the dialogue was, for the most part, awful. Palpatine was by and large my favorite character.

Yeah, its funny how all the positive reviews of RotS also include the disclaimer that the dialogue is slimy snake shit stinkin' bad. How can a movie be good if all the dialogue is bad? Answer: Its not.
The film has some good scenes, some light hearted humor, and a few spots that only in-the-know fans will get but it was not a good movie. "Better than the first two" doesn't quantify it as being good. Dog shit may not smell as bad as Horse shit or Elephant shit but it still smells like shit.
There were actually three parts where I laughed aloud at the dialogue: "No, its because I'm so in love with you." "I'm sooooooo weak." & " NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
Come on.
1 minute Dooku battle.
Minimal Role for Grievous.
Neutered Wookie battle.
Heavily edited ending sequences with an ungodly whack timeline.
Ridiculous reason for the Dark Side Turn
Windu screaming like a *Bitch*
There was nothing in the film that remotely compared to the Clone Wars cartoon series Anakin vs Ventress sequence or the Grievous kidnaps Palpatine sequence.

Anakin versus Obi was spectacular.
No it wasn’t. Hardly any force powers were used (other than the lame “retrieve light saber to hand” trick). The martial arts (a particularly funny kick comes to mind) was laughable. Even the actual light saber fight was boring: Attack top left, attack top right, bottom, back to top. *yawn* And don’t get me started on the effects. Turning up the glare and brightness factor of light sabers so you can’t see anything doesn’t cover up lame action sequences. It makes it more evident.
Edit: The only upside was the background of where they were fighting.

I predict at least a 30% drop for sith, clearly the majority here liked it. I thought it was horrible, for the above mentioned reasons and a lot more. There were about 10 times in the movie where I thought it could not get any worse, boy was I wrong. It was like a train-wreck, I had to see how bad it ended. My $0.02. Hopefully batman will not dissapoint.
ROTS is second to me only to Empire (and at the very least tied with ROTJ). Absolutely loved it and am glad to have contributed my 16.50 to that over-all first place number.
And to kokyunage, maybe it's me, but I actually see the lack of force powers as making the fight better. It was raw. They attacked each other one on one with without the use of their sci-fi super-powers. Blade against blade. Was glad to see a fight that didn't incorporate force-lightning, force-pushes, etc for a change. Reminded me (some) of the OT.

Well I disagree with all of you nit-picking bastards- I loved it. In fact I rank it almost as high as Empire (yes my inner 6 yr-old is cringing at that statement). My only gripe was about 3 minutes of Anakin/ Padme' dialogue and the wookie tarzan yell., everything else that everybody is bitching about stays true to the pulp serial roots of the series and that's why I like it. What really floored me was how Lucas let John William's score tell the story in a bunch of places, really added emotional resonance to some of the scenes, which wasn't really there in the previous 2.
Plan to see it for the third time this friday.

I think it's funny that all the haters were still tripping over themselves to see it. It's Star Wars people, and I thought it was a pretty fantastic movie for the type of film that it was. It goes a little way towards improving the first two Episodes in my eyes (I realize I'll be in the minority with this opinion) because I now can see where Lucas was going with all the boring political subplots. And yes, the acting and dialog was pretty bad, but I did see some improvement. There were relatively few groaners in this one, and even the "NOOOOOOO!" line I thought was more tongue in cheek than anything.

SWRotS was a bad movie. Never mind the bad dialog, the special effects were boring. Sure they looked pretty, but there was nothing cool I can remember.
Honestly, any epsidode of Star Trek Voyager was more gripping than this movie. I felt absolutely no attachment to any of the characters. I didn't care if they died or lived, to me it was all a big blob of cheese. I usually see Star Wars movies twice in the theater. Not this time.

Well, at least this way what they have to say has SOME weight. I'm not really sure why it became cool to hate RotS, but whatever, it's no skin off my dick if Person A wants to beat on it. I liked it well enough, and Lucas is certainly laughing his ass off all the way to the bank.
There were relatively few groaners in this one, and even the "NOOOOOOO!" line I thought was more tongue in cheek than anything.
Problem there, IMO, is it shouldn't have been tongue in cheek. Between the Frankenstein break-free, and that corny "Noooo" straight out of the Simpsons, that whole scene crashed for me. I think by the time that mask goes in place, there should have been no remorse left in Vader. Sadly, they weren't soliciting my input at the time. *sigh*
I'll agree with everyone who says the Padme and Anakin scenes were painful.
But overall I'm still giving this a thumbs-up. It was cool enough.

I guess I just see it differently. Here's the first appearance of the newly modified, DARTH VADER, TEH SCARY LORD OF TEH SITH!, with full on cheesy 70's costume and and all the bells and whistles. I'm just trying to imangine a way of doing that scene, and it not being slightly cheesy. I'm just thinking that Lucas realized that this was the scene that people were waiting DECADES for, and just decided to have some fun with it. Heck, I'm not entirley convinced what I'm saying is true, I guess I'm just playing devil's advocate. ;)

Actually, the camp was the part I liked. How can you not call the OT campy?
I think the best performance of the movie was actually the emporer dude, because he COMPLETELY acted campy.. he didn't do a pseudo serious take on things, he went full bore camp, and I loved it.
Star Wars is and was always intended to be a pulp movie, and expecting some sort of shakespere on film will be a dissapointment.
Now, since Lucas said he's not interested in doing any more... any hopes he gives the reigns over to someone else so they can do the Thrawn trilogy before Hamil, Ford, and Fischer are dead? lol

I agree one hundred percent. That was a Raw fight, and the anger from Vader and the Righteousness from Obi-Wan was evident. The counter force pushes was exactly the right amount of power usage, in my opinion.

For the record, implying that people don't love the movie because they are seeking group approval, as it is "cool" to hate it, is pretty whacked out.
Ignoring that there is no way to measure how cool it is to love or hate something, I think it's safe to say that those who liked it got pleasure out of it, and those who didn't ... well they didn't get pleasure out of it (or not enough).
personally, my beef was that I wanted a good movie (which is to say a movie that evokes some form of emotion) and instead I got a advertisement for ILM studios. That wouldn't have been so bad if I wasn't already excruciatingly familiar with ILM and their eye-popping CG skills. Doesn't it say almost everything that if you wiped the soundtracks of all the prequel movies (making them silent), they would still be just as enjoyable to most of the people who loved them?

John Williams is a modern day Mozart. 300 years from now people will be studying his music. He really outdid himself with this score. The subtle undertones of the familar themes tied with the new music is just awesome.

- Too many saber fights
- Ridiculous dialog
- Ridiculous character interactions
- Lack of believeable emotion in any character (except Obi-Wan when he fucks up Darth Vader, that was actually quite good)
- No anticipation to create a proper story arc
+ Fight between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader
Anyone else get the sense that George Lucas is just a big kid who never grew up and therefore his movies just don't appeal to the emotionally mature? To write dialog the way he does, he cannot have any idea of how real human interaction works. I got the sense that I was just watching one big non-interactive video game on the screen.

and the wookie tarzan yell
If there is anything that is 100% blatant and unnecessary it is the Tarzan Yell (TM). I think it was Chewbacca both times (once in ROTS and once in ROTJ). It completely takes you out of the that universe in a galaxy far, far, away. Even more than the other things I could mention but won't.
I didn't come up with this thought but I think I agree with. As far as the PT goes, this is the PT. This one movie is what the full three movies should have been. Personal opinion, of course. While each movie had its moments. ROTS has far more of those moments. This alone makes it the best of the PT. It does NOT make it better than Empire or A New Hope. I read somewhere that the TV series is actually going to have the events that follow ROTJ. I think that would be far more interesting than the further adventures of Padme's sister and her friends (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2005-04-27&res=l)

It kicked ass.
It was easily the best of the PT movies and in my opinion ranks with the OT hands-down. I can't believe people are still bitching about dialog after all these years. If you want good dialog, why the hell are you watching a SW movie? If all you care about is listening to a conversation, maybe it's time you admit you aren't a Star Wars fan (PT *or* OT).
As someone who grew up with his imagination pretty much constantly occupied (to one level or another) with Jedi, Ep 3 did not disappoint. I loved it.

i loved it but i have to admit the clone wars made me want some more crazy superhero action.. but none of the movies are like that to begin with.. force powers usually take a back seat.
I was dissapointed that mace and grevious were so ill used and they didnt even explain grevious's injury (CA-LONE-WARS! HELL-AH-OOO!).. one line is all it takes for 95% of the audience to go "ahhh"
But in the end he has 4 main chars, 900 story arcs and 2 hours to do it all in. Him, Mr. Williams score, and supposedly Tom Stoppard were pretty damn deft for a SW movie. Too bad Genndy Tartovsky (sp?) is much better at basically everything :)
Anyone wonder why obi-wan kicks so much ass? i mean jesus he killed maul, django (reinhart) fett, that blobby guy in the clone wars, grevious (i was always visualizing a mace/grevious match - but maces choreography was so horrible that i bet lucas gave up and just had him do a little sideious work), and basically anakin.. And here obi is saying he isn't that powerful? gimme a break.
Rants aside, i liked it, and will watch it again.

I have read: "the saber fights were boring"... COME ON!, have you seen the saber fights in the original trilogy????... those were nothing compared with the fights in RotS.
I think that most of the people haven't seen the original trilogy in years... because in the end, all the movies aren't THAT different after all.
I think that the movie kicked major Ass.... except for the few minutes of dialog between padme and anakin.... but all the movie was nothing short of amazing for me.

Also, if people are saying they don't like Star Wars because of the ACTING, I would like to see them point out a Star Wars movie that had good acting. Any of the six. Please, I'd like someone to say Mark Hammil is a good actor so I can say I've truly seen everything.

Nope, doesn't sound right no matter how you say it, but I siad it so I guess AnthraxKitty has heard everything. The lightsaber fight was great. The lack of force powers made it better and made sese since both Anakin and Obi Wan focused on lightsabre techniques instead of force powers anyway. If you want a fight with force powers look at the Sideous/Yoda fight, even though it was a little short lived. The best part about the Obi Wan/Anakin fight was that it was actually done by the actors themselves, except for certain outragous jumps. At least Haden can do something right.
My only complaint was of course the dialouge, but it was all Haden Christensen's fault and I think that they could have done better if Anakin had some accident in the beginning of the movie where his vocal chords get injured and they have to replace them so that James Earl Jones could do the voice instead. Also, did anyone else think that the way Obi Wan left Anankin there to burn to death was a little cold hearted?

He was a coward, but even then...I dunno. He was pretty awesome. That thing at the beginning where he blew out the window to escape was far from 'wussy.' Though it was not far from hollywoodized.
And as an aside...do you all realize this is the third or fourth thread where people have started debating the value of the latest Star Wars movie? Does anyone besides me realize that the people who love it and the people who hate it are not going to change their minds because of any of this?
Can't complain too much though, I am taking part in some of these threads. My only other observation would be that the peeps who did not like this movie seem to hold it to much higher standards than other movies (including the OT) and by those standards, of course it is going to fail....I mean, come on, peeps saying "the light sabre fights were boring." Are you seriously that jaded?

Setting a precedent that you try to find movies you both like is not a bad thing. Kicking and Screaming, I hear, kicks ass. Anyway, these days either my wife and I dont see movies together or we compromise like Pirates of the Caribean was a great compromise movie. I wont see weepy drama shit and I dont drag her to Sin City.
Guess I'm lucky, my wife loves Star Wars and Sin City :)
But we're always behind the curve on movies- we finally saw Hitch Hiker's Guide last night, and completely loved it. Seeing Adams' work on the big screen was pretty emotional for me. The Guide itself was amazing and hilarious. When Marvin spoke, I got chills down my spine. Ford Prefect was a lot better than I imagined, and Zaphod channeling GW Bush was genius. I almost expected him to say "hey, Presidentin' is hard work!". Trillian- she was note perfect, and beautiful as well.
Even the love story that so many felt was tacked-on, to me it made sense in the context of the movie. If you met a girl who you felt was perfect for you, then the world blew up and she survived, you're damn right you'd be in love with her pretty quick.
The best "small" moment that really worked for me was when Arthur was racing over the new Earth Mark II with Slartibartfast, and he covered his mouth with his hand like someone who just found out somebody they thought was dead was actually alive.
It's too bad the movie didn't make more money, I would love to see the sequels.
