Yahoo News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050521/ap_on_hi_te/video_expo_gadget_rdp) has an article about some E3 gadgets that could be cool. There is a way to use a real baseball bat for hitting in the console baseball games...
QMotions-Baseball: Clicking your computer mouse is hardly the most authentic way to play a few innings of a baseball video game. Why not swing a real bat? For $80, the QMotions-Baseball system replaces the game pad, letting you use a bat of your choosing. The setup includes a special bat collar that wirelessly sends swing movement to a home plate receiver you plug into an Xbox or PC. The device, available this month, works with big league baseball games including "EA Sports MVP Baseball" and "ESPN Baseball."
There is also a new handheld system that does everything but slice the bread, controllers, etc...

The bat idea is great, but how many lamps, vases, and TVs will get broken by wild swings or bats slipping out of hands?

GameSpot has some videos (http://www.gamespot.com/e3/e3live.html) of this junk. It's towards the end of the last day of E3, if that's any help.

Nothing really interesting gadgetwise this E3, well, nothing notable.

A note to Infinium Labs: Quit being complete fucking shitbats. Drop the Phantom and release that damn nifty keyboard/mouse thing for consoles/pc! I'd fucking buy it.

yeah, but after you swing the bat you have to quickly pick up the game pad so you can control baserunning etc. Sorry, but there is a lot more to be on offense in baseball than just swinging the bat.

Something tells me they've thought of that.

So, if you add in that Nyko PSP thing, is it even a portable anymore? Or is it a laptop?

...None in my house ya pussy. You can't swing a bat properly?

Edit: No! You make the letters go blue! Not under the keys! Ugh...

Ok this invention sucks. Why would anyone pay $80 for this when they can go to a batting cage for much cheaper? Not to mention that there's more to being at bat than swinging as hard as you can. What about aiming your swing?

Why would anyone play DDR when they can dance to music for free?

I'm serious? why? That game sucks.

That's a bad analogy. The experience you get from playing DDR is very different from going to a dance club and just dancing. The most obvious difference is the lack of a scoring system and thus lack of reward. I suppose if there was someone judging your every move in the club than it would be a similar experience. But that would probably cost more than the price of DDR.

The experience of going to a batting cage is almost EXACTLY like the experience you'd have with this device. You know when you've done well and when you've done poorly. It's also a superior experience because aim plays a factor and you actually get to feel the connection with the ball.
