Hey that's when 300 hits theatres. Looks like you can go to a movie with the crew too ;)
I like Company of Heroes but how am I going to find Canada? I've never heard of that state.

Good on Relic.
Over the last few years they've quickly risen to the status of a premiere PC game developer. I've got nothing but love for Blizzard and their RTS titles (yeah, they used to make those, whodda thunk?) but for my money, Relic is the studio to beat when it comes to the modern strategy game.

Shiat, I'll tell them why I should be considered their biggest fans. I buy and play their RTS games even though I find them frustratingly difficult.

Ah, I still remember beta testing HomeWorld back in the day. What a gorgeous game and what an amazing soundtrack. Relic's finest hour, imho.

Wait, you're also bad at them? Let's play. May the worst man win. Seriously, I remember back in the days of Total Annihilation where I had some friends who didn't normally play video games get into it and just beat my ass. I must be some sort of RTS idiot.

Give me a day man. Shiat, how about next Tuesday? You'll have to host, or we'll have to use Hamatchi because my roommate has our LAN tied down tighter than an Asian hooker.

It's interesting, are game developers really starting to get "famous" enough that meeting them is a big deal?

Wait a second. Relic did Company of Heroes? How have I missed that factoid? God damn, I already knew I should have played that game, but that fucking seals it. Everything this company touches is gold.

I think Kieron Gillen should win, as his articles have made me want to play Company of Heroes on multiple occasions despite my lack of a PC and my apathy towards WWII games and RTSs.

More developers should do this. I may try and get up there to check it out. It's only about an hour and a half drive. Not sure where my passport is though...
I live pretty close to Relic's office. I remember when EA Canada put up those billboards right outside their office trying to steal employees. Good times! Or was that Radical? It's early.

I had a friend that could consistently beat the hell out of me in WC3. Like every single game. I never could get the hang of it.
Then Dawn of War came out, which was much more tactical than WC3, and I proceeded to smash my friend into digital pulp. Payback is awesome.
I <3 Relic.

I've been to Relic's new downtown studios a couple of times now (Threewave, which has several ex-relic devs on staff has moved into Relic's old offices). I've got an article in the works from last year's visit in July (when a few of us forum staffers got a tour of their offices and spent a few hours playing the SP of Company of Heroes Pre-beta). Their offices were got for a swan song, Canfor, a large canadian forestry company was moving out of them, and Relic moved in. Their office is done out to the nines, but it was well under their budget for moving offices as Canfor had really spruced it up.
Those of you folks that are interested in going, definately send a note into Buggo (Aheze at Relic Dot Com), as she's the coordinator of the event. You might not get space on the tour/open house, but for sure if you're local you might be able to come hang out. There's a lot of Relic forum staff flying in from around the world for this, guys from German, the UK, Austria etc etc
I watched the Relic the other day, starring Penelope Ann Miller and Tom Sizemore.
Before Relic got ahold of Relic.com, the website domain was used to promote that movie.

That was just a general EA marketing thing I think. The billboard was up in the downtown core, but I don't think it was particularly targetted at Relic. Rockstar and Radical are both right near Relic anyway, along with other high tech outfits.

Impossible Creatures says hello.
/not trying to rag on Relic, they make great games. It's just that the 1 game of theirs I tested was Impy Crits.

I think they've got 2 projects underway, one of them being a CoH expansion (DUH), and a Dawn of War Online component (they've been advertising for designers/programmers with MMO AND RPG experience for the DoW team), either Dawn of War 2, or a big online expansion pack.
I think they've also got something going on with Homeworld, but not an RTS. I hear they got the license back from Sierra before Ron Moravek left Relic for EA Canada.

I will probably not get to go to Vancouver but if one of you does please for the love of all things get in everyone's face and scream that the next Dawn of War expansion pack must include the Tyranids both in the central story and as a playable race in multiplayer.

Definitely come visit... it's going to be a lot of fun... a studio tour, playtest, question and answer period, prizes etc...
Also let me know if you have any suggestions about what you'd like to see at the event!

Amalor:
Before Jay Wilson left Relic for Blizzard he'd commented several times on why the Tyranids weren't in Dawn of War. The game engine couldn't support it. Stuff like the Tyranids being able to change their environments and such.
Now that Relic's got their essence engine though...
Ps. Buggo's Relic's community manager, I submitted this on her behalf.

Not obsessed. Not at all.

That was Radical. One of the most hilarious billboards I'd seen :D Pretty clever, although I doubt Radical's management appreciated it.

Not to re-dash any hopes, but it's all gossip that they've got something going Homeworld wise. The folks at Relic are notoriously tight lipped about stuff :-/
