Gamespy (http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/the-elder-scrolls-iv-oblivion/618099p1.html?ui=rssFeed) offers up their impressions of The Elder Scrolls: OblivionBill Abner: That was indeed an impressive forest, but what stood out to me, aside from the ridiculously good graphics and artwork, was when the demo took you inside one of the game's nine major cities. The AI, which Bethesda is calling "Radiant AI," allows NPCs to wander around town talking to other NPCs about non-scripted events. It's not just filler. If you overhear two guys talking about something you might get a quest out of that. I loved how the NPCs reacted to the world around them; if a dog sees a piece of meat on the floor, it's going to go after it. I got the sense that these people and creatures had minds of their own and were really part of the world.
I think it's time to reinstall Morrowind.
I'm still playing the same Morrowind Character since it was released, and I'm only half way through the island.
One thing that bothers me about it, is how generally everyone is clearly just standing around, waiting for you to show up, and they seem to be putting a lot of effort into dealing with that.
Is there a proper release date for this?

A game that dealt with it years ago was gothic, and its follow up gothic 2. Great Great games.
Each and every time I watch a Elder Scrolls clip (this applies to Morrowind as well) I wonder why Bethesda doesn't take in consideration the oppurtunity to hire someone who actaually knows how to deal with animations...
Most of them are, at least, innatural.
Such a shame for a potentially marevellous game!

Most solid date I've heard it fall, though they were talking like it was going to be a 360 launch title. After seeing that in the Microsoft presentation though I almost installed Morrowind but I have no time for it sadly.

I dunno man, the new clip for Oblivion looked very nice. Maybe the fight animations were just sooooo much an improvement from Morrowind that they looked better than they really are. But watch it again, if nothing else, they are decent and on par with similar stuff.
Anywho, if they do nail the new animations well, with the new graphics....I really hope the house of pleasure in Suran is a franchise, and there will be a similar place in the new game : P

Agreed the animations of your charecter from the first person still don't look that great, but everything else looks really amazing and that didn't really detract from Morrowind.

pretty much the only good RPG for PC's now-a-days
Probably it is just me being really picky!
I recall the first time I saw Morrowind screenshots (before the Xbox release) I thought that the wrist wasn't behaving properly... Just think/try to swing a sword/bat and you will see that the animation looks a bit weird.
I've just watched the trailer again and I had the same feelings. It's not that big deal: the game still looks amazing. But...
I just wish they solve this kind of small glitches!
Probably I'm just a bit drunk

Wasn't morrorwind an awful game? I thought it was plagued with problems... (thats just what I heard from more than one person).
Regardless, oblivion looks to be a real treat.

Out of the box, it was a bit of a plauged problematic jumble of random quests.. but once you started added on some of the user made mods (a lot which addressed problems) the game started to really shine. I havn't played in a while so I dont know which mods are the NEED to get ones these days, but I'm sure there is still a Morrowind junkie laying around that will point you to the right downloads.

Huh? Oh, sorry. Yah.
Mods. (http://www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/modcontrols/mods.asp)
Grab: Signposts, all the Giants stuff (the animal one just adds so much life to the game! It feels to quiet now if I run around without birds chirping.), the better bod's mod, and whatever else perks your interest. Such as the Tavern Sound mod, or perhaps a fishing mod. Just do a search by top 10 dl's and you'll be good.
While we are on the topic of Oblivion, what character types is everyone planning on playing? Something different from what your main in morrowind was? Something similar? I'm thinking of an acrobat/theif type. Unarmoured or light armour, shortblade and archery. I can't wait to try the new theiving stuff.
/back to morrowind

I bought Morrowwind. I played Morrowwind some but was never able to really get into it (didn't play it long enough is my guess). Perhaps I will give it another try. Oblivion certainly looks amazing and from what is written, it is sure be a hit. I won't buy a new TV just for this though. There has to be another reason to upgrade.

Morrowind still crashes for me at random times, but it's usually when I'm restoring a game from a save, so I don't lose too much time. Other than that, I've had no problems. When it first came out, it used some kind of copy protection that made gameplay horrible. I remember you had to download a no-cd crack just to be able to play it. However, as long as you install the most recent patch, the gameplay is just fine now.
I'm still playing it full time right now and, even though I'm pretty powerful and can destroy anything (omg, just enchant anything with +1 health regen constant effect and you are a God), I'm still having a ton of fun! I love being powerful... heh.
The best thing about Morrowind (like nearly all single player RPG's) is that it is all about questing. I have done zero grinding in this game, just going out and doing quests and exploring the little "dungeons" peppered about the land. There isn't really any time for grinding with all that!
MMORPG Developers really need to learn from single player RPGs.
