Holiday Console Sales Numbers False

We previously reported (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23195&highlight=million) some holiday sales figures for the next-gen consoles based on a CNBC report. As it turns out even the most major news services aren't 100% reliable as the NPD group, the group in which the CNBC analyst claimed the numbers were from, has responded.NPD's David Riley informed GameDaily BIZ, "Recent media reports erroneously cited The NPD Group as having provided to CNBC December '06 retail sales for the video game industry. Although the specific CNBC segment included NPD's November '06 console hardware install base sales figures, there were no sales figures or forecasts from NPD for December 2006. NPD's December/Year-End sales data will become available Jan 11.

Still might be accurate, but I don't see the 360 have such a high number, although all those amazing sales with a ton of games (In Futureshop's case 360 prem GOW GRAW and Dead rising for 479.95) they might be accurate numbers.

That's a really tough call on the Wii. I know a boat load of people that want one but I am the only person that I actually know that has one (no I'm not saying they sold one console ;))

Looks like this is turning into a prediction thread.

My guesses for NA are: 1.1 million for the Wii, 400k for the PS3, and 1.8 million for the 360.

Both the Wii and PS3 number looked too high to me in the debunked article given the shortage of Wiis and the lack of interest/ shortages of the PS3.

yea I am still searching for my Wii but I can wait till around february to purchase one. now just holding my breath till MS drops the price of the 360.
