Rockstar sends along the first screenshot from their upcoming Playstation 2 and Xbox title, Bully.

Stepping off the beaten path into brand new comedic and dramatic territory, Rockstar announces Bully. An exaggerated take on life in the schoolyard, Bully takes place at fictitious Bullworth Academy, a corrupt and crumbling cross between a boarding school for rich kids and a reform school for delinquents. The story follows teenager Jimmy Hopkins as he tries to survive his crooked classmates and superiors, and navigate the school's tricky social hierarchy. Rockstar Vancouver has created a sprawling campus environment to support a deep and humorous storyline, and an endlessly compelling and open-ended gameplay experience.

Bully is scheduled to be available this October for the PlayStation 2 and XBox.

I was just about to submit this but got sidetracked by more DS shots.

This seems to be a clever move away from the GTA series and boy am I glad to see it hitting both consoles. It's a nice change from having to wait over 6 months between releases.

Am I crazy for thinking this is a somewhat fresh and interesting concept (in an era of gaming where such a thing is rare)?

Sometimes i believe people are confused by the word "Rockstar" which is a publisher (an ever growing one). Which has bought out / join several companies and they become "Rockstar 'blank'" Rockstar North (previously known as DMA Design) makers of the GTA series. This game is being develop'd by Rockstar Vancouver (really creative sub names...) previously known as Barking Dog Studios makers of Homeworld: Cataclysm (http://pc.ign.com/articles/164/164108p1.html) and also Global Operations (http://pc.ign.com/articles/357/357018p1.html) both games being atleast above average. i agree with Balthasar atleast its a different concept and looks interesting

And rockstar found a new way to get sued by everyone heh. Assuming this kid gets to have weapons while running around the school yard that is...

It'll probably sell millions.

You sure this is not a prank, Avatar?

It looks like somebody photoshopped the kid's face. He's got the face of a hardened criminal (okay I'm being stereotypical), or maybe just really determined to survive... or something.

I dont know why, but to me this seems merely like GTA: School Yard.

As long as you can beat up other kids, who cares!

I can only imagine what the media will say to this. School beatings increased because of Rockstar, etc, etc. This should be good.

I hope it will be (in an era where running around and constantly fighting everything in sight is not rare.)

well, as long as I can take the school slut into the janitor closet for some heavy petting, then beat her up and take back my lunch money....

Just like GTA.

It's completely real, they had it at E3, although the lack of detail on a game due this year is a bit odd.

I am also wondering when Rockstar will start treating it's staff like rockstars, instead of completely hiding them, as I heard that they are not allowed to do interviews or anything, only the marketiods can.

I was really excited about this game when I heard about it a while back, can't wait to get my hands on it.

Am I the only one that thinks this sounds completely retarded?

History shows us that games about school usually die fast. But who knows. I'll play a demo if they release one. But I might still puke.

River City Ransom needs a next gen remake... but with the same insane humor. As I pray that it would not look like Final Fight Xtrme or whatever its called.

I should compile a list of games that were based on school-yard or school-hall violence or sexuality... and see how many actually are even remembered. There were tons of games that attempted stuff like this and completely died. I think it's a bad idea.

Anyone want to bet this outsells every 360 game in December?
