I'm not sure I pointed this out before, but thus far, everything that has been Worms related for XBLA has been from European websites...Is this thing going to be available everywhere or just in Europe?

It's probably been mostly from European websites because it's "local boy makes good" and Worms/Team17 have little-to-no presence in the US over such fanboy-fav's as Epic and Id software.

I'm sure the US press will pick up on the story, now that there's pretty pix.

I always preferred the pixely look of the original Amiga version (and its identical PC port) over the cartoony style from Worms 2 onwards, so I'm a little disappointed it doesn't look like that. Still, this is still good ol' Worms and I shall be buying.

This might be the first game I buy on xbl, assuming that it's as fun as armageddon (and hopefuly that hookshot weapon is as entertaining as the ninja rope, I love the ninja rope)

I for one, am glad that it's more like the newer versions.

In what ways was the original superior? I don't think I've ever played it. I've only played 2 through WWP.

It was superior through my personal preference. The gameplay was pretty much identical but the style was very different.

I played the original, it was okay. I played W:A years later with my wife, and we both got sucked in.

I'm all OVER this new Worms HD, though I will admit I actually enjoyed the latest Worms offering, the 3D Mayhem game was lots of fun and my 6 year old boy and I played the crap out of that one, actually.

For me, Worms (except the Worms 3D) is the best game ever for all time! Remember, it's only my opinion.

Has it ever been confirmed this will have online play? I mean, I assume... it'd be an unbelievable screw-up if not. I'm pretty much willing to subscribe to Xbox Live for this. Not even Gears of War convinced me to do that.

Very very cool. I'm looking forward to this one. No one plays Worms online anymore. This will be a good revitalization of that.

Cloning Clyde does have multiplayer. And just to be clear, not all Xbox Live Arcade games multiplayer, but they do have leaderboards.

Oh, I forgot to mention: How could you forget about Geometry Wars? The most popular XBLA game doesn't have multiplayer.

Looks like this will be coming much sooner than I had expected.

I think I prefer the new(er) look of the worms in the sequels over the original. I played the original to death, and loved how they managed to fit so much character into such tiny sprites. However I think the later style compliments the cartoonish over-the-top ness and ridiculous weaponry a lot more.

Absolutely. In the saturn version there were cheats for unlimited banana bombs and all weapons being 10x more dangerous.

The problem was that when activated, it was on permanently and to get rid of it, you had to wipe everything, all your teams, your stats... I had a friend that would ALWAYS fucking activate the cheat when I wasn't about which ruined any notion of skill in the game from then on and reset everyone back to zero (we had a running league for about 2 years on and off) because I had to delete everything to get the game to play normally again.

Crappy weapon settings puts you in what we used to call "Mario Van Peebles" -mode. You select one worm and you go SOLO, striving to save only him, and strategically placing him to give him cover, and attack the enemy. Of course that only works if you leave worm select on. Without that, it's pretty much luck ;)

You don't play with me on live... in all fairness though, I haven't been on in months :)

I do not miss the graphics from the original worms but I do miss the custom maps! You would whip up an x by y picture in amiga paint and then play it minutes later!
