With all those next-gen systems coming it's very easy to forget about the current-gen consoles, not to mention handhelds. Which is pretty unfortunate because DS had one hell of a show with almost 30 (!!!) titles on stage.

You can find tons of screenshots (all in one place) in this (http://new.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=47948&page=1&pp=50) thread at Gaming-Age Forums (http://new.ga-forum.com/).

Sonic Rush, Castlevania, Mario & Luigi 2, new Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart, Metroid Pinball etc. - definetly something worth looking forward to.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by the slew of quality titles on their way for the DS. The new side-scrolling Mario looks awesome, and it's on two-players. Plus, with 25 developers already working Wi-Fi titles, including Square-Enix, I can't help but feel as if the $150 I dropped on the system was well worth it. A new Legend of Zelda: Four swords is supposedly in the works. That would be awesome on Wi-Fi. It's too bad I can't say the same thing for the money I paid for my PSP. Patience truly is a virtue.

Ah, feel that hate. Objectively I can say there's just as many good games I have for my DS as my friends have for their PSPs (those few that own them), but I know where that argument will go.

Keeping on the thread at hand, yeah, there's some kickass titles coming out. I want some details on the Nintendo Online network though. WHEN is it launching and how? Is it just on a per game basis? Or are they utilizing the GBA slot (as DS games can simply read from it, letting you keep the network software on it)? Need some more details on the chat software as well (VoIP on the DS is HOT).

Games released for the DS? Who'd a thunk it.

Man, that's a really sweet line up. I was starting to believe that my DS was a nice paperweight until E3 this year. Now, all I need is for Square-Enix to release Final Fantasy VI on DS, and that unit will never leave my hands.

Seriously, I'll be standing at the altar with my fiance, leveling up my espers.

Can't forget Nintendogs and Animal Crossing...never thought I would buy a DS, but I'm sold now.

Do I dare hope there's a reason for the DS's existence, or is it all a mirage? :(

You mean like Lumines and... and... umm...

Somebody help me out here.

Really they're about equal right now. Each system has one good game with a lot of potential good games in the future.

And I was more excited about the announcement of Mario Kart, Katamari Damacy, 2-D Mario and Animal Crossing than anything I saw on the PSP. I might actually have to buy a DS soon...

'Fraid you're out of luck, unless my knowledge is wrong. At this point Square is only porting Final Fantasy 3 - the Japanese #3. I'd love to see FF6 ported over though.

Lemmings is coming out for the PSP (if that changes anything).

Again though, it's a matter of personal preference vs. individual availability. Players that want PS2-like gameplay on-the-go are going to run after the PSP while players that want Nintendo's ever-changing line of games (like Nintendogs and A Boy and his Blob) are going to go for the DS.

Hell, some players will even go for both systems just so that they don't have to argue with people. :P

Anyone else think that Lemmings would be a better fit on the DS than on the PSP? That game just screams touch screen to me.

Back on topic, I am totally looking forward to Metroid Hunters, Advance Wars DS, the new 2-D Mario, and Mario and Luigi 2. These look like some serious, quality titles, with some depth. Right now depth is seriously lacking in most DS games.

lemmings is about as far from "PS2-like gameplay" as you can get, so it's ironic that you mention that in the same post. but i agree, the PSP is like a home console, only portable. and it really affects my buying habits for the machine. i still haven't picked up twisted metal for psp because i'm afraid it'll just be twisted metal... and i already own that.

I actually had a great laugh when someone told me about that yesterday. Just last week my co-workers and I had a discussion about how Lemmings should be done for the DS, as it's interface is perfect for it. Then they go an announce it for the PSP this week...what the hell are they thinking?

Then again, it's probably a good thing. Now I won't have to hear PSP fans saying "DS sucks, all it gets is old remade games like Lemmings!", now DS fans get to say that instead. ;)

I wasn't trying to make a connection between the PlayStation 2 and Lemmings, but that's irrelevant. :)

I'm glad you agree with the logic behind what I was saying though. I won't say that it applies to each and every person out there, but it's a little more reasonable than some of the other answers people have to buying one system over another.

From the sounds of it, the odds are good that the Revolution will have all those old Square games. And the compact flash capabilities, combined with the eventual GBA successor, could mean...
