The guys from AnandTech tried to find some real next gen hardware and barely managed to get some 360 parts (http://www.anandtech.com/tradeshows/showdoc.aspx?i=2424). Looks like E3 was really smoke and mirrors for next gen systems.
Microsoft was running all of their Xbox 360 demos on Apple Powermac G5 machines, and Sony didn't have a single PS3-anything in their booth (with the exception of some clips from the press conference). This year's E3 was very much about current generation platforms and games, and in that respect it was a disappointment.
We do have a bit more about Microsoft's Xbox 360 however. Today we were given some time to play around with everything from the console itself (non-working), to some of the new Xbox Live features and the new wireless controller.

As long as the xbox360 boxes come with the goodies inside when you buy them in november, who cares, really.

Some of those screenshots are kinda sexy though, the xbox360 is starting to grow on me. I wasn't a fan of the xbox1 at all (no secret there), but I'm liking the xbox360 and what its got going for it. To be fair though, I'm already sold on the PS3 and N-Rev. I don't want to buy 3 consoles, though I might have to =(

Revolution was a dummy (http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000270043981/) console (empty inside) also.

I'm sure if people got their grubby hands on the PS3 it would be found to be a dumby console also. Not a big surprise really.

True - given the lead times at this show, I'm not too surprised.

I'm sold on the PS3 (The first piece of Sony hardware I'll have bought) and I've always been a fan of the XBox (just a shame they had to call it something so dewdish) this time though I'll be giving Nintendo a miss. I'm sick and tired of getting a slick piece of hardware supported by absolutely nobody.

There was also a companion article to this one, found here (http://www.anandtech.com/tradeshows/showdoc.aspx?i=2423), that talks more about the 360 and PS3's GPU. I thought this little quote was pretty interesting.

Because of the extremely large amount of bandwidth available both between the parent and daughter die as well as between the embedded DRAM and its FPUs, multi-sample AA is essentially free at 720p and 1080p in the Xbox 360. If you're wondering why Microsoft is insisting that all games will have AA enabled, this is why.

Overall, I gotta hand it to Anadtech, even though they are not a "gaming" site per-se they still are providing some very good coverage on the new 360. I'm really excited about the new Live features now after reading that article.

Oh come on I tried to post this story last night and it never went up. Was mine not good enough?

I thought there were areas where people could get their hands on the next gen Need For Speed game for 360. I know I saw a photo of people playing with the controller and that they were on the floor with other people standing around them. Meh.

Looks like this year's E3's all hype.

I'm not sorry I missed it now :D
