That's right, that legend of lore, Will Wright (http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,4217/), has more in store regarding Spore for your gaming core (sorry, couldn't resist).
Hop over to GameSpy (http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/spore/616537p1.html) and IGN (http://pc.ign.com/articles/617/617441p1.html) for their previews. I'd also like to note that while File Rush (http://www.filerush.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=9815) provides no proper coverage, they did give us the link to the game's recently opened homepage (http://spore.ea.com/).
Will attempted to make contact via a musical language bit ala Close Encounters of the Third Kind. These guys (someone else's creatures) fired on the UFO. Will then shot back from the UFO in a small action sequence. After realizing his regular weapons weren't doing much damage, he backed out into an orbital view. From there he blew up the planet with a super weapon.

I can't wait for this game... one of the few I'm actually looking forward to.
Will Wright may be a little insane, but him and his pals at Maxis sure know how to make entertaining sims.

I don't know why Will Wright wouldn't just walk away from EA, take the whole company with him. Instead he plans to feed the leviathan another dose?
Does EA have a handle on him? Infidelity or daughters for ransom?

I guess he probably sticks with them because he probably has a ton of freedom there to do whatever he wants (and publishing issues won't be an issue for him there). He's probably under some contract also, but it seems like hes got it pretty good there. The higher ups in EA (and their sub companies) aren't the ones who have the problems, its the grunt coders/artists/modelers/etc who are whipped and beaten.

The man can basically do whatever he wants anywhere. Heck, even nintendo would take him in, probably.
I don't know; the man's got ideas, but he's working for the devil.

We (the Royal We, not necessarily everyone out there,) like to bash EA for being evil and churning out sports games with roster updates... But they do The Sims... And this... I want to keep an "us versus them" mentality... But...
I'm so confused...
And I love ellipses...
I honestly think the question is "Even though it's Will Wright, and the game's a near-absolute-hit, would other publishers take the chance and be willing to give the games the support they deserve, or would it be relegated to the side like so many other 'odd' games out there?" It's the idea that only two companies take chances, those who can afford to toss away millions, and those who are betting the house on one last chance. But then again, I'm no business major. I don't know.

I want this game NOW... <.< I swear, this guy is just like Peter Molyneux... except he's actually good at what he does, and different in every way.

EA is not taking any chances with Wright, EA's got another locked-in mainstream blockbuster seller on the way.
EA's hated for:
1. Employment practice - plebeian, serf, proletariat, EA employee.
2. Buying out NFL, ESPN, College footbal - eliminating competition through monopoly.
3. Annual update of Madden, NFS, Sims Exp, MOH, etc. EA's not just milking the cows - they're milking the goats too, and the cats, the rats, the lactating women.
And Wright's their mad scientist. I can't wait for graphics to hit photorealism in 10 years, then EA would go the way of MGM.

Jeffool, it isn't about what games EA 'make'. Being publishers, they simply push the creative thinkers that work for the company into the dirt in an effort to release games quickly. The gaming industry, and people that make these games would be far better off if they jumped ship or somehow published their own work (something I'm sure Will Wright could manage to do). At the moment EA have simply monopolised the games industry (at least in certain areas), which would be fine and dandy if they were a nice company to work for. Unfortunately that has been proven otherwise by workers in the industry that have worked for EA and taken a stand against their practices.
As for Spore, I hadn't even heard of it until today, but already it's looking to be one of my most anticipated games. If it works as well as the previews suggest it'll be a huge (sideways) step for the gaming industry.

I also posted up the screenshots that were sent out in the PR, but I can't tell whether or not you're trying to be sarcastic (hopefully you were, but I tend to read things the wrong way).
*Edited because I felt a little explanation was needed*
I usually fray away from making extensive posts about page launches, but who doesn't? Seeing the official site go up for something isn't exactly the highlight of my day, but it's still newsworthy. Obviously if I feel it deserves more attention (like Battlefront II coming to the PSP (http://www.filerush.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=9783#9783&sid=c59eecafeaba38989bb4fc422d34166d) or updated information, new screens, and/or a new trailer for a game like Shadow of the Colossus (http://www.filerush.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=9823#9823&sid=c59eecafeaba38989bb4fc422d34166d)), then I'm more than happy to dive in and give a little more information. Usually it's a matter of how much info. I've received and how much access (or lack thereof) I have to media assets that determine the composition of my posts.
As for Spore itself, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it already. Although I slipped out of the Maxis loop shortly after purchasing SimCity 3000, I must say that Will may pull me back in before it's all said and done.

Don't take me the wrongway. I'm not a fan of EA at all. (Mostly for the way they've been treating employees.) I'm just saying that before The Sims, would many publishers have actually published The Sims? I'm hesitant to say yes. (Sure a couple would've, but I would guess most would pass.) SimCity is a classic, but The Sims was way the hell 'out there.'
Liar. I also posted up the screenshots that were sent out in the PR. :p
I usually fray away from making extensive posts when I'm sick, so I'm sorry if my post was a little lacking compared to GameSpy/IGN. Thanks for the reference though.
Hah, sorry man, I didn't mean that as a diss at all. Actually I meant the inverse. Maybe I should've said "I'd also like to note that while File Rush provides no proper coverage, they're the only ones that did give readers the link to the game's recently opened homepage."

No, it's perfectly fine. I was just being overly defensive as usual. It was pretty funny the first time I read over it because I knew it wasn't one of my "better" posts, but then I got to thinking that maybe I should explain how I do things just in case anyone got the wrong idea about it.

No man, it's my bad. I totally came incorrectly with the remark and it was far too ambiguous. *sniff* Wanna hug and make up? *cough* Er, a manly hug, of course.

Hmmm...
Hacked elements in the Sims 2 replicated like viruses on other people's computers when they downloaded neighborhoods. I wonder what kind of system (if any) will be put in place to keep this from happening in Spore?
