Major Nelson (http://www.majornelson.com):
Name: New Rally-X
Price: 400 Points
NOT Available in: Korea
Dash Details: Single Player, HD (High Definition). Collect all the flags while avoiding enemy cars! With new features such as the Lucky Flag, which awards you points depending on your remaining fuel. Collect the Special Flag to double the points of all remaining flags! NEW RALLY-X, the sequel to RALLY-X, was released in 1981. It featured new courses and adjustments to the enemy cars, improving the overall game balance, as well as new graphics and BGM!
I've never heard of the game, but I guess I'll download the trial version like I've done with all the other releases.

So here's my question... why don't we have any scrolling shoot-em-ups on Live Arcade? Seems like it'd be the perfect place for one. Preferably Japanese style bullet craziness. Pinball would also be much fun.
So far the only games that have really kept my interest are Geometry Wars, Mutant Storm Reloaded, and Marble Blast Ultra. There's potential for great games, but most of em just suck. Small Arms looks ok, Assault Heros is just too slow. As for the retro titles, I'll never understand the folks who buy those.

Used to play this a lot in the 80s :) Kinda cool, but very retro. Basically a Pac-man clone with cars and a bigger map. Only buy this if you have fond memories of the original.

I'd say the rest of us got the screwjob, and Korea got a heavenly pass on this one! :D

WOW! sorry to see you didint like Assault heroes. I think thats one of the best games currently availible other than Geometry wars and Marble Blast. My only gripe with the game is that the experience is over rather quickly.

I thought the Metal Slug games would be a no brainer for XBLA since the roms are nowhere near 50 megs, but I guess this is what we're stuck with.

Wow, this is a really old Namco arcade game. Its a good sign when old and rarely remembered classics like this are coming back to XBLA.
edit: Does NO one remember this game? Perhaps because it was Namco's OTHER game, released beside Pac-man. It's also nice that Namco dug out the original bizarre cabinet artwork.

Who moved this to console games?
Anyone have impressions of this version?

Agreed. I don't even think it's slow. That game can get extremely hectic. It requires quick thinking.
Maybe he means the speed of running on foot. I don't know.
Seeing as how he doesn't understand people who buy retro titles, let's not go any further with this.

No, that would be Dig Dug.
This would be the OTHER other game. :)

This game was free with ridge racer on the PSP...kept you entertained while it loaded.
Oh yeah.. Those wee arcade games that you could play while the game loaded were great. Loved the Galaga bonus level while Tekken 1 was loading. Brilliant idea. Didn't know that Rally-X was one that had made an appearance in that area.
I'm not too suprised not many of the young 'uns around here remember it. Certainly not one of the later arcade games. But I remember it being pretty popular when it was in the arcades around here. Actually I even know of a shop near the University that still has a working Rally-X cab. If I hadn't played it to death in MAME long ago I'd have been playing that one a fair bit. ..I reckon it will sell well with those who played it in the arcades. Always fun when you have a spare 10 minutes to kill.
