It's that time of year again! Time to vote for your favorite Game of the Year in the usual categories. Here's how it will work:

I will post a news item during the Preliminary Round to take votes on the games you guys want included in the final Game of the Year vote. Sure, I and the other reds could spew out a list of the games we think are worthy but that is boring and unfair to you, our loyal readers.

Please respond, in the comments for this post, with your choices to vote on for GotY (for the assigned system). The Preliminary Round for each system will be up for two days before the thread is closed. List as many as you like, I will tally them and when all of the systems have been counted I will post up GotY voting polls in the coming weeks.

Today's systems: DS, PSP, GBA

(It will be easier to vote for all three of these in one thread. Please be sure to indicate what system the game you are voting on is for especially for anything cross platform.)

damn, the second half of this year had some great DS games. I'm going with New Super Mario Brothers. my runners-up would be Elite Beat Agents and Castlevania Portrait of Ruin.

NSMB has just taken up way too much of my DS time, even after 100%'ing it. I'm just a sucker for nostalgia...first game on the NES was Super Mario Brothers, and the first game I bought with my DS Lite was NSMB.

Metriod Pinball didn't come out this year. But it is definitely an awesome game.

Addictive replayability, and the multiplayer support is great fun too. No GBA recommendations for this year though. Golden Sun is permanently lodged in the slot.

DS - This is a tough one because of the sheer number of great games for the system this past year, but I'm going to have to go with Jump Ultimate Stars. FIgure that'd be okay because others have posted games that aren't out in the US :-P

Really, I'd have to say either Starfox: Command or Super Monkey Ball: Touch 'n Roll. Both games got generally shitty reviews, but still, I enjoyed the hell out of them. They are great games, and I could give a fuck less about any popular opinion stating otherwise.

DS: Final Fantasy III
GBA: Final Fantasy V

I know FFIII got some mildly bad reviews, but there's just some awesome classic goodness there that I've loved, simplistic storyline notwithstanding.

Also, I would have listed "Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time" for the DS since I didn't play it till a few months ago, but it technically came out in November 2005. Loved that game. :)

DS: Haven't played many games for it yet, but right now my vote goes for Elite Beat Agents.

GBA: Final Fantasy V (even though I played it on the Playstation years ago).

I haven't played anything new on the PSP because I sold mine quite some time ago.

DS: New Super MArio Brothers. Most played DS game I own. I couldn't sop playing it until I had 100% complete.

GBA: Just started playing FFV, and it's amazing. Easy vote.

PSP: Haven't played it all year I think. Loco Roco was cool when I watched it being played. I prolly won't play anything on PSP until D&D Tactics comes out. I abstain.

GBA: Summon Knight: Swordcraft Story (http://gameboy.ign.com/articles/722/722684p1.html) - A completely looked over Action RPG that was actually an amazingly fun dungeon crawler. Plus, you got to craft your own weapons. Swordcraft Story 2 came out in late November, but I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet.

PSP: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. Really, there was nothing else that entertaining that came out. Loco Roco was good for a few kicks, but that's about it.

DS: Lots and lots of good games, but I'll have to go with Contact for the DS. It's also a re-published translation by Atlus (like Summon Knight), but it's really involved with the skill system, and all the different clothes you can wear. An easy barely-second place is Elite Beat Agents.

DS: Tetris DS
GBA, PSP: havent played any new games for them this year.

Tetris gets my vote because I have an unhealthy addiction to the game, sofar as to have maxed out both the line and level counter in marathon mode. Over 10,000 lines to do that!

Drill Dozer (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/gba/drilldozer?q=drill%20dozer) for the GBA.

It's sly vibration implementation enhances a great platformer. Feeling the gears shift to increase speed or torque gives a nice sense of immersion and never gets tiresome.

Hmm my nomination never went through. Damn wireless connection.

DS: Castlevania: Portrait of Ruins (though EBA is more addicting, I just love Castlevania)
GBA: Yggrda Union
PSP: WTF (Work Time Fun)

DS: tie between Phoenix Wright 2 and Elite Beat Agents and Castlevania: PoR
GBA: Final Fantasy V Advance, hands down. This has pulled me away from every other game I've been playing on every other system, FFXII included. That's some special magic juice they've sprinkled into that cartridge.
