Team Xbox (http://www.teamxbox.com) is reporting that the upcoming additional content for Gears of War may well see the light of day on Christmas Eve.
Check out how they came to this conclusion here (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/12447/Gears-of-War-Christmas-Eve-ReEmergence-Day/).
Planet Gears of War has discovered a bunch of text messages from "domsantiago" that suggest that a download for Gears of War may be released on Christmas Eve.
Below you can read the text messages reported so far:
* Beware the locusts. They will come from the ground……stay tuned for alerts!
* Today we stand proud amongst the ruins of Sera, beware chosen one for Raam is watching you
* The time is almost here. We fight in your domain. 24.12.06. Be prepared
* Inhabitants of Sera, we shall complete your annihilation on the above domain. Come and prepare for your final destruction!
Even more interesting is the domain name that Xbox 360 Leagues found at www.theabovedomain.com. The site features a "Re-Emergence Day" title and have a concept art enclosed within the Crimson Omen sign that shows a Corpser emerging once again from the bowels of Sera. The image clearly displays the 12-24-06 date at the bottom.
This is the third time that Gears has been front-paged today, and all with good reason. Looks like Christmas is going to be very merry for those itching for more GoW content.
Editor's Note This has been proven False (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22501).

Well, I'm a lame ass. I haven't even finished the original content. :(
Still, looking forward to it. Hoping it'll stretch the wings of the multiplayer a bit!

I've lost interest in the game, but maybe the new content will make me play it again. I hope so, or I'm just going to trade it in and rebuy it when it becomes a 20 buck platinum hit.
Then again, if the content is not free or it's too expensive, I'm passing.

Just finished it on Hardcore.. Was a blast, ended a little abruptly for my taste but I'm having a ton of fun. I'm badly in need of some new multiplay maps. Some BIG assed ones would be nice.

Those last two lines sound like they came from a skinny white guy at a desk somewhere.

Awesome news for Gears fans. Epic knows how to take care of the fans.

Ditto on the abrupt ending. I suppose it would be too much to ask for an extension of the single-player story, since the Gears of War name is now a license to print money and we will get the inevitable sequels. But how about something simple, like a new weapon to use single-player? Could add some replay value.

Cool. I can't even begin to imagine what it will be. Perhaps spawn points in maps maybe? It would sure make it easier for newbies to handle dying all the damn time! :D

Odd release date for new content, really. Too late to sell any more copies (or consoles), but too early to be part of the post Christmas blitz that MS needs to keep shifting consoles.
Still, it's Epic, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's just a chrissie prezzie. :p
Epic has already said they wont charge for the content, so don't worry about that. This greatly excites me, and I cannot freakin wait for Christmas Eve\!

Gears of War is a great game to play once a week or so. But when you do play it, you play until five in the morning, and with more than enough alcohol to really upset your parents.
I hope there'll be some additional gametypes. I don't know what it'd be, but they'd know better than me what to throw in there.

Yep, my wife HATES this game. I'm afraid for its little round life. I play about every other night 'till 5 and oh man do I get it the next day. No quarter is given. None. From the minute my daughter wakes up at 8 in the morning and my wife happily sends her to go wake me up, to in the late afternoon when I try to sneak a nap and she decides to clean the house and vacuum. She's evil.
I agree wholeheartedly. I haven't had this much scream-outloud fun since Halo, and I haven't had a game that I play with a whole bunch of my friends consistently since Halo either.
I've been basically trying to beat General RAAM on insane for 3 days straight and it is destroying me inside.

Maybe this would explain why the game was so short? So they could drop a chapter 2 DLC on us? Guess we'll see.

I've been having a blast with Gears ever since I bought it ... prior to buying it, I sat down and beat it on Casual when I had it out on a rental. Now that I own the game, I've been going through the singleplayer again, this time on Hardcore. I definitely noticed a jump in difficulty over when I played on Casual ... and probably will expect the same kinda jump when I get done with the singleplayer again on Hardcore and move to Insane difficulty. I personally cannot wait for what comes down the pipeline on Christmas Eve from CliffyB and crew.

Ditto on the abrupt ending
Why abrupt? You complete the mission from first act... wasn't really abrupt, just a tad confusing how you ended up on the train. A few extra minutes of cutscenes between the missions would have really helped the flow on the single player IMHO. Also I do not really like boss fights... especially not when they can take 20 headshots in the face without wearing helmet.

I don't think its about trying to get more people to buy it....its about doing something nice for the people who already bought it.
Funny that no one has said anything about the guys on the zipline in the background. Could this be more co-op levels and the addition of ziplines? just a thought. :)

A MP map or two sounds right. what i REALLY hope for is an extra mission, one that would help clarify Marcus's "traitorous" past. Or at least his first post-emergence day mission
Yeah I dream big don't I?

I've been basically trying to beat General RAAM on insane for 3 days straight and it is destroying me inside.
Good luck man. I just did it yesterday, but only with help. I defeated him on hardcore by my lonesome. Wasn't easy, but I got through it ok.
I then went through the game on Insane, and actually found it on the whole easier than when I went through it on Hardcore, just because I was better and knew what was coming (although some parts were hell).
However, RAAM, solo on insane? It sucks. A lot. I know it's possible. I feel I've gotten close. But after restarting the 1,000 time, I was just wanted to be done with the damn guy.
Advice: do it co-op. I did it with a friend, and we did it on the very first attempt. One guy with torque bow, the other with sniper. Headshots when he sends the kryll, and when your friend can get the torque bow shots in, of course the kryll fly and you can nail him. Then everyone tosses his grenades. Then a few more headshots. And finally, when he was right on us and I thought it was all over, I blindshot him with the shotgun a few times and he died, thankfully.
Good luck.
My prediction is the following:
1) New Multiplayer maps
or
2) Entirely new content for the Campaign
The fact that the web page is re-emergence day should say something. Possible that the events at the end of the game have caused the Locusts to re-invade all over. Either way, I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am.

New SP would be cool, sure... but honestly, we should all expect new MP maps at most.
How I wish stuff like this was open to the modders.

Wow, very cool way to release new content. Should I dare to hope it might be a bit of single player as well as multi-player content? I think I shall.

I find it odd they would release content on Christmas eve. Something goes wrong and quite a few guys will need to spend Christmas day trying to fix it.
Maybe they'll just announce that they started work on a sequel? :)
They said they'd wait to see if the first is successful before thinking of a sequel. With 2 million sold and counting, I think they started thinking.

Maybe we will get to play as the Locust and get their side of the story.........Why they decided to attack and all that!!!
Lets just hope...........Can this game get any better?
Finished it in both Hardcore and Insane, and I still can't get enough!
