I did not know Guitar Hero 2 was normally a $50 game. Post experiences with any of the above games.

Believe it or not, GH2 isn't the flat, lousy year-to-year upgrade one would expect. They actually polished the game up a lot - it's a lot more different than from DDR release to DRR release.

Cool I ordered CoD2 for my Dad, 1 present down. THP8 is good if you like the TH series, if you aren't a fan P8 won't change your mind.

I would second the recommendation for GH2, its more than just a new play list, there are quite a few cool new features and they fixed a lot of things up.

I'm kind of looking forward to GH2 on the 360. Although I'm still finding it hard to justify an $80 controller for 1 game. It would be nice if the 360 version has both song lists.

Will the 360 offer downloadable songs?

Will the 360 offer downloadable songs?I just found this in a hands on preview by TeamXbox (http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1495/Guitar-Hero-II/p1/).
What is more of a sure thing is RedOctane taking advantage of the Xbox Live Marketplace connection to deliver added content via download. (Though it’s only a rumor, there are early rumblings that the first offering will be the songbook from the first Guitar Hero game.)

From what I've heard, there's probably going to be extra content on the xbox disc in addition to any marketplace stuff.

I haven't got GH2 yet. I'd probably prefer to have it for the 360, I'd happily buy reasonably-priced extra tracks over Marketplace. But i already own 2 guitars for the PS2 from the original GH.
I'm guessing an adaptor's gonna be WAY too much to ask for.
I went ahead and bought Guitar Hero II for the PS2 because I couldnt wait for the 360 version. The game is, quite literally, liquid fun, so it's not a hard purchase to justify. If you haven't yet bought it, you're really really missing out. There is nothing like Guitar Hero.

Please don't use literally when you mean metaphorically. It has been ruining the word recently.

I bought a PS2 just to play GH. Then we got a second guitar for my oldest kid's birthday. We bought GH2 also, of course. However, now that I have a 360, I will definitely buy the 360 version and 2 more controllers. Given that it is likely that GH1 songs will be available on 360 sooner or later, I can sell the two PS2 guitars, and both games, and likely not be out too much extra. It will be well worth it for multiplayer over Live and extra songs to come in the future.
Dunno if I will keep the PS2 or not, though. Probably will, just to pick up a few games on the cheap to play sooner or later (God of War, Shadow of the Colossus).
So, yeah, go buy GH2. :)

Guitar Hero is crack in videogame form. I passed on it for so long despite what great things I'd heard simply because I already play guitar professionally, so why bother? Boy was I ever wrong. It's like having a band in your bedroom, and all of the band mates actually know their parts.
Of course, after buying GH2, I had to immediately go out and buy the first one as well, which has some amazing songs on it as well, and a much smoother learning curve. It'd actually be my suggestion to grab the first game before the second if you haven't played them before. The difficulty just ramps up too much in the second game, going from medium to hard, without playing the first game is very nearly impossible unless you spend hours in training. GH1 just has a smoother transition which gradually gets harder as you go.
Just to show what I mean. First tier song Woman, here's medium (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFgKZCLhwF0) here's hard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3p86ig_V00&mode=related&search=) skip to about 1:40 and you'll see exaclty what I mean. Expert in GH1 is easier than that, by far until you get almost half way in.
Now of course my girlfriend and most of my friends are always hanging around wanting to play it too.

Evil Dead: Regeneration is just about the best Evil Dead game ever made. Unfortunately, this is not saying much.

I'm thinking of getting Call of Duty 2 for the 360. Cuz I missed Best Buy's $20 black friday price.
