There was some speculation that this was in the works, and plenty of anger from the PSP enthusiasts at the prospect of losing their exclusivity. Now The Magix Box (http://www.the-magicbox.com/0612/game061210b.shtml) has some screenshots of the game in action, and it's coming out next month in Japan!

Wohoo! Thank goodness I made my Japanese account! GT:HD and Dark Resurrection in the next month. Finally I can justify my purchase.... wait...

I own a PSP. I will own a PS3 probably by the end of next year or mid '08.
But seriously, I can't defend these choices.
Buy a $500 PS3 for PSP ports.
Buy a $200 PSP for PS1 ports.

Can you make accounts from different regions like you can on the 360?

I'd like to know this as well. It would make owning a PS3 a good thing instead of a gas covered tire around the neck of the consumer.

Yea, just make a new user profile and sign up for a PSN account on there. Do you know Japanese? It's pretty straightforward and you can pretty much guess.

Instructions on what to do if you can't read Japanese and have a PS3, or are thinking of getting one.

I do not have a grasp on English, I definitely do not know any Japanese. I can usually figure things out when playing import games though. I will give it a try later tonight after I watch The Lost Room. I had to run out so I missed the earlier show.

The same place "Killzone 2" is. That sony movie was nothing but lies.

I saw these screenshots a few days ago, and I'm curious as to whether this will be as content filled as the PSP version, or if it'll be a barebones port, since it apparently has a download size of ~800mb.

While that's very zen of you, I don't understand the relevance.

I think this was pretty much the only reply needed. Everything else is redundant. This included. Very literally.
Wait . . . so people are excited about playing PSP games on their PS3? I don't get it

Maybe it was due to the relatively small size of the screenshots, but with the exception of the one with the chick in the purple dress on page 8, I thought those shots generally looked rather unimpressive, and certainly not on par with the characters and environments we've already seen in DoA4. Here's hoping it looks better in motion.
Of course, if the game plays excellently, then the graphics really won't be the main factor anyway.

It won't look better in motion on the basis that the arcade hardware is essentially a souped up PS2. It will run at HD resolutions though.

So the PS3 is getting a PS2 game
That was ported to the PSP
And Tekken 6 is being passed up for this?
Is the [current] game not Backwards Compatible with the PS3?

Aren't you guys glad tekken 6 is delayed? It looked like ass in the trailers.

Um, Tekken 6 is still in development, so they decided to release this as well as a DOWNLOADABLE game. Who in their right fucking minds complains about good games being able to be downloaded for substantially less than a full game?
Yes, it is nice to get this game as a SonyİStore download. Especially of they keep the price fair like they have with the other downloads. The PSP version is not a watered down version of the arcade and they are updating it to 1080. Why not to be excited about it? I guess we are only supposed to be excited when we are getting 10-20 year old games available in the console download stores.
Some of you spend too much time in threads about a console you have no desire to own.

Dark Resurrection isn't a straight port of Tekken 5, which is (I believe) backwards compatible anyway.
It's just supposed to be an example of PSP compatibility on the PS3, I think.

I just realized that there is no mention that this is a DOWNLOADABLE game. Maybe an admin should append that to the title so people stop thinking this is the real "next-gen" tekken.

I don't think that's the case, because it looks as though they're using the models from the arcade version. Here's a link (http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20061208/tk5.htm) to some actual high res screenshots, which should look notably more detailed models than the PSP version(although the textures obviously didn't translate too well to an upgrade in resolution).

Even if it is [planned as] an e-distro game, maybe there's something that I'm missing....

Only people who complain are people who are *** fanboys and people who jump on the bandwagon. I been trying to figure this out, you know see people bitching about the games *** are releasing on XBL.

I think it sounds like a great downloadable game. Now just show me the price. If you're not interested in the game, stop whining and just don't buy it.
Oh and why would psp owners be angry about losing exclusivity? Life is too short to be angry about that! If you own and enjoy the game on the psp why does it matter that it's on the ps3? I just don't understand all the complaints....

I think its cool that the PS3 can d/l a large game (800mb) but I really don't understand why people would get excited about a PSP port though. I desire to have a PS3 just when its a little bit more in my reach $250-300. Plus, I've never liked Tekken anyways . . . even the anime sucked.
Oh... and since it is the full PSP game, does that mean it'll cost the same as its PSP counterpart? Perhaps this will be a trend, all PSP games to be released as eDistro on the PS3... hmmmmm

Has there been any indication yet as to whether or not there will be online multiplayer for this? If not, I don't really care about the game. It is nice to see more stuff going up for download though.

What I meant in response to Nate Graves was that why re-release Dark Resurrection as downloadable content when you could pop the PS2 game into the PS3?
It's cool and all, but I'm thinking most Tekken fans would want Tekken 6 all the same.

Depends on whether you're a purist or not. There are enough differences (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tekken_5:_Dark_Resurrection) between the two to make it worthwhile.

Here is a list of things need to realize before they continue bitching about crap they have no idea about.
1. Tekken Dark Resurrection was first and foremost AN ARCADE GAME not a PSP game and is therefore not exclusive to the PSP. It's only exclusive in the sense that the game only exists on one piece of Sony hardware.
2. Tekken DR was a revision of Tekken 5 that was earlier released in arcades and on PS2. Tekken DR added more moves, more clothes and outfits, 3 new characters (armor king, Dragonuv and Lili), new animations for old moves, and a better balancing of the character power system. (they toned down Feng so he wasn't such a powerhouse that pwned everything)
3. The Tekken 6 video is the trailer FOR TEKKEN 6 AND NOT THIS GAME THAT THEY ARE SELLING ONLINE. Tekken 6 has been delayed, and rightfully so since it looked very far from being complete or looking next gen when they showed it at E3.
4. Tekken DR never came to PS2. For 10 years, Namco has followed the model of releasing something in the arcade and then porting it to a home console. This was the first time they didn't do it with Tekken DR since the revision came out in the arcades pretty much right after people had picked up their copies for the home console. But there is a reason for that. First, they didn't want to box and ship ANOTHER game and piss people off that now have to buy TWO versions of the same game in a very short time span.
Finally, they wanted people to go to the arcade to buy cards from the machine to save their characters and play more in the arcade rather than sit at home playing the game. They were really trying to push a gaming community to form in arcades and get people out there playing people they don't normally play. Not to mention, buying a card and playing in the arcade makes all parties involved much more money ;-)
5.This game is simply a port of the same game but with HD resolution. It's like downloading an old PS1 game. So they have not revised the graphics. Just like they have not revised the graphics with any of the other games that they have sold online. They could have if they wanted to, but this is just a port of an existing game. There is no need to since they have their development team feverishly working on finishing Tekken 6.
