Microsoft has entrusted a group of UK websites to distribute the much sought after Halo 3 beta codes, but it seems as if someone can't be trusted.

If we find out which site was selling these codes, we'll name and shame them for all to see...you dirty rats!

Why weren't they distributed via Bungie.net?

Yeah, why not just let bungie do it? That's odd...

If a story really is a scandal, won't it be kind of self-evident? It's horribly tabloid-esque to declare it a scandal in the headline.

Good call. I didn't even notice that when I approved the submission.

Wow, if that's the standard that webmasters have to live up to in order to get into this XCN thingy, practically anyone could get in with a shitty geocities site. That site is horrendous.

It's England (I know England /=/ UK, don't care :P), all they have are tabloids.

Seriously though, they have the worst media in the world (worse then Australia's, and that takes some doing), we can't expect... well anything from any of them really.

Well it is an Aussie after all that is in charge of the worst offenders (The Sun and The News of The World).

Not all of our newspapers are tabloids, The Guardian, The Independent and The Financial Times are decent broadsheets with, in my opinion, The Independent being the best of the bunch.

The Guardian is a tabloid (it can pretend to be a broadsheet all it likes), possibly the worst paper in England.

And yes, Australia certainly knows how to make astonishingly bad editors, we're possibly the best (worst) in the world.

It's not even news for fuck's sake, a water skiing squirrel has more bearing as a front page story.

I'm sorry, but I think this story is complete bullshit. What Bungie is actually doing is linking gamertags to beta accounts, which is why you had to enter an MSN passport when signing up for the beta.

For example, if you sign on Xbox Live, and in the event you were chosen, you will see the beta as a downloadable option to your harddrive. Those gamertags without access will be unable to access the beta for download.

I haven't heard anything about beta keys.

EDIT: I can at least confirm this is the way it's being done for the closed beta.

I can't imagine Bungie doesn't know who they sent each code to.
