Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment sends along word that they are releasing five movies on UMD for Sony's PSP handheld console, including the Governator classic, Predator.
On July 5, 2005, Fox Home Entertainment will release its first film titles on the Universal Media Disc (UMD) format for Sony’s new PlayStation Portable (PSP). Available for the suggested retail price of $26.98 each, the titles will be available everywhere UMDs are sold. The first five titles slated for release on UMD include the sci-fi smash I, Robot, indie favorite Napoleon Dynamite, the balls-out funny Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, cult comedy Super Troopers and the action classic Predator. Fox has chosen to support the new format because it provides consumers with a new portable entertainment option that also maintains durable copyright protection. Subsequent waves of titles will be released from Fox’s impressive catalog in the coming months.

$26.98?
You know how many hungry children Sally Struthers could feed on that?

This being an EA forum and all, I know someone's going to fight me tooth and nail about this...but I can't see anyone running out to buy Super Troopers for $26.98!!! Just...just kill me now...

The PSP movies are hideously over priced. They just aren't selling at these prices especially these older movies that you can buy on DVD for $10!

They'll be $15 or less when they hit the strores. The movies are selling...at least in New York. I can't find 'em anywhere...always sold out.

I agree. You have to give Sony credit for finally merging portable movie players and handheld game systems into one sexy looking peice of hardware but I'm just too much of a cheapass to pay almost twice the price for a movie that I can only watch on a PSP.

These movies are fine, but when are they going to announce some new games. I bought the PSP primarily to play games, and see nothing in the horizon, other than PS2 ports.
